Princess Cecilia
Princess Cecilia was the youngest daugher of Emperor Myrold II and the Lady Pelle. She became one of the three contenders for the throne, following the death of the Emperor and almost entirely as a result of the schemes of her mother. It is generally believed that she had no desire to become embroiled in the politics that would take her life, before she was thirty years old.
Note : Bearing in mind that years on Magicians' End are about two thirds of the length of those measured on Earth Zero, this is equivalent to roughly twenty Earth Zero years.
Originally engaged to a much older man, Kyrald Stibb, in what amounted to an arranged marriage, heavily brokered by her mother, the princess was said to have had doubts about the prospect of becoming the wife of the banker, although it would have secured an important ally in the power politics of court life.
During the War of the Three Sisters, it is rumoured that her mother promised her hand in marriage to the recently widowed Field Marshall Gerald Cartwright in return for his military aid. We do not know the full truth of this or what Cecilia thought about it.
The princess's forces were heavily defeated at sea and later at the Battle of Maplerun, where Field Marshall Cartwright was killed. She was captured at Zalgurim, and subsequently tried and executed by Princess Acetta before the end of the war.
