Dravindra Rholab
Raja Dravindra Rholab
Dravindra Rholab was one of the earliest of the Raja's of Katrapetch, ruling between 11th Chiroth, 9586 BPC and 26th Tivith 9557 BPC.
He is credited with expanding the role of the Court Circle of Katrapetch and establishing important early principles of government and the administration of justice.
Most famously, both the Staff of the Raja and the Crown of the Rani were crafted at his request by his Senior Magician, Yanavik Jecinth.

Personal history
in 9586 BPC Dravindra Rholab emerged from a murky selection process carried out in secret within the Court Circle following the death of Lortheran Gold without a legal heir to become the new Raja of Katrapetch. No one was particularly happy about this, including Dravindra himself who felt that his legitimacy as Raja could always be challenged. He had to be ruthless in the early years of his reign and it is rumoured that at least one of his rivals was assasinated on his orders.
In 9582 BPC he married Fatima Rholab, who acquired the title of Rani.
Although apparently infatuated with his new young bride, Dravindra was also suspicious that she might not be faithful since whispers reached his ears about a certain level of overfamiliarity with one of his guard captains. When Fatima became pregnant in 9577 BPC, Dravindra was unsure whether he was in fact the father. Concerned both in the private sense about his personal genetic legacy and in the broader public sense about the failure of the Court Circle of Katrapetch to have a reliable and agreed method of determining the succession, he consulted with his Senior Magician, Yanavik Jecinth and together they put forward a proposal before the Court Circle which led Yanavik to construct the Staff of the Raja.
The Staff of the Raja was made with fine gold, beautifully ornamented and most famously including the great Succession Ruby from the Katra mountains at the top. It was specifically embued with arcane powers to validate and confirm the heir to the throne when invoked by a special ceremonial. Yanavik did not complete its construction until 9571 BPC. On the 5th of Kerax in 9571, the five year old Kamal Rholab was presented to the Court Circle at the first ever Confirmation of the Anointed Successor. If the young prince had been the true first son of the Raja, then according to the sworn oath of the Senior Magician, the Succession Ruby would have glowed brightly in acknowledgement. Since it did not, a great scandal ensued in which a public accusation of infidelity became an official verdict in short order.
The upshot was that Fatima, her guard captain lover and Kamal Rholab were sentenced to exile across the ocean. It was to no avail that the Raja's young wife protested that the Staff of the Raja was obviously just not working properly (or even, she hinted, was a fake designed to get rid of her). Fatima's problem was that her husband had already made his mind up before the ceremony and planned his swift response in advance. So it was that the boy's true father and mother were lucky to escape with their lives and with their son, sailing to Myruthea and ending their days in Ralsimoor.
Before the fading year was even over, Dravindra Rholab had remarried.
Aadhila Rholab, his second wife was reputedly pretty, modest and clever and nothing like as extrovert as the Raja's first wife. She bore him a son, Rahul Rholab in 9569 BPC and this time, at the Confirmation of the Anointed Successor, the Succession Ruby shone brightly.
To honour the fidelity of his second wife, Dravindra instructed Yanavik to make a crown for all future Rani and Aadhila Rholab became the first to wear the Crown of the Rani in 9653 BPC.
After Dravindra's death on 26th Tivith, 9557 BPC, a regency made up of members of the Court Circle and led by Aadhila Rholab took control over Katrapetch until Rahul Rholab (who was only twelve years old when his father died) was old enough to take on all the duties of the Raja.
