Fatima Rholab
Fatima Rholab was the first wife of the Raja Dravindra Rholab and Rani of Katrapetch. They were married in 9582 BPC when he was 51 years old and she was only 31.
As ever, the reader should bear in mind that years on Magicians' End are only two thirds of the length on Earth Zero.
Although initially infatuated with his flirtatious young bride, Dravindra grew jealous of her free and easy charms and became suspicious that she had taken a lover from the ranks of the royal guard. It was this suspicion which led him to order his senior magician, Yanavik Jecinth to make the Staff of the Raja and this magical royal instrument would prove to be Fatima's undoing.

Fatima became pregnant in 9577 and in the following year gave birth to a boy named Kamal Rohlab.
On the 5th of Kerax in 9571, the five year old Kamal Rholab was presented to the Court Circle at the first Confirmation of the Anointed Successor. If the young prince had been the true first son of the Raja, then according to the sworn oath of the Senior Magician of Katrapetch, the Succession Ruby would have glowed brightly in acknowledgement. Since it did not, a great scandal ensued.
The upshot was that Fatima, her guard captain lover (his name now lost to history) and the boy Kamal Rholab were sentenced to exile across the ocean. It was to no avail that the Raja's young wife protested that the Staff of the Raja was obviously just not working properly (or even, she hinted, was a fake designed to get rid of her). Fatima's problem was that her husband had already made his mind up before the ceremony and planned his swift response in advance. So it was that the boy's true father and mother were lucky to escape with their lives and with their son, sailing to Myruthea and ending their days in Ralsimoor.
