The Yevelian Ringpeaks

The Yevelian Ringpeaks are an expansive area of mountains on the far side of Yevela that are part of the broader Ringpeaks. The region is a vast stretch of steep slopes and gorges that create an extremely hostile environment in concert with the harsh snows and ice storms. Despite this, the area is one of the only parts of The Ringpeaks that are inhabited, for it is home to the Tunvavvaki people, who live amid the harsh lands on the rare sheltered plateaus.

Localized Phenomena

A weather pattern unique The Yevelian Ringpeaks are the regular Ice Storms that batter the region. They come every few months with scant warning and last for days or weeks. For the event's duration, clouds darken the sky and dramatically reduce light across the whole region, as freezing rains and large hailstones fall from the sky. The storms break with little warning and leave behind frozen mountains and flood valleys, slowing recovery and travel for days more.

Fauna & Flora

Precious few species inhabit the Ringpeaks, most are insignificant, but some shape the ecosystem immensely or are important in Tunvavvaki society, listed below are two of the more notable.
  1. Roshiebosk are a type of large goat native to The Yevelian Ringpeaks. The creatures average six feet at the shoulder and are covered in a thick shaggy pelt which helps to insulate them from the cold, and they have long horns that spiral and twist, reaching multiple feet in length depending on the beast's age. The Tunvavvaki have long since domesticated the creatures and made them a core part of life in their . They act as beasts of burden and are a ready source of furs and meat during periods of food scarcity.
  2. Khuelnosu is a hearty and rough plant growing in the sheltered nocks along the mountainside. It has a thick, grey-colored stalk surrounded by large dense fronds which shield the plant's main body from the weather. At the top of the stalk is a glandular bulb that excretes a viscous liquid that drips down, coating the plant and deterring animals from eating it with its bitter taste and scent. Tunvavvaki synthesize this sap into an all-important acid which they use to carve out their .
