Ubrashana

Ubrashana are the basic settlement units in Tunvavvaki culture. These communities are composed of several thousand people, led by a Gyrrasha, or king. They are small towns carved into the Ocharine of The Yevelian Ringpeaks using the acid from the Khuelnosu plant grown there. The Tunvavvaki typically build them around natural hot springs on the sparse sheltered plateaus occasionally found in the region, running many twisting tunnels under them to gain access to their warmth. In these expansive tunnels and halls, they remain safe from the Ice Storms that batter The Yevelian Ringpeaks in a contained and constructed community.

Government

Each Ubrashana is a small fiefdom unto itself ruled by a Gyrrasha. This position's holder has broad power over daily life and construction in the Ubrashana and foreign affairs outside it. It's a hereditary title passed down to a person in the current Gyrrasha's household. Family members settle matters of succession in private council, debating until they agree upon an heir; this person needs only to be a blood relative of the previous holder, no matter how distant the relation.

Infrastructure

The tunnels and halls in an Ubrashana are extensive, stretching for miles on end. In this vast underground space, over the centuries or millennia, the Tunvavvaki have melted out spacious caverns and chambers to grow food, house livestock, and various other uses. Most Ubrashana were built are mountain hot springs, and the Tunvavvaki channel this water through the walls and floors of these interconnected passageways, providing heat to the otherwise freezing rooms.

Architecture

Having lived in the same space for thousands of years, the Tunvavvaki decorate the halls of their Ubrashana with brightly painted wood paneling. They do this to hide the stone pockmarked from the acid used to carve it out and lighten an otherwise drab and unfriendly space. These decorations are intricate and ornate, frequently including carved or painted designs depicting scenes from Tunvavvaki daily life or mythology.
Most Ubrashana are thousands of years old, having been founded long ago. Because of the rarity of potential sites, there are few, but they're highly permanent settlements.
