Rhark Swift Claw

Chieftain Rhark Swift Claw

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Rhark Swift Claw became the Chieftain of The Swift Claw Clan after the death of Chieftain Ihsu Swift Claw in -17BU. After Ihsu's defeat in Pazi, Rhark spent much of his time recovering the losses. He spent time rebuilding his forces, improving their equipment and making improvements to Alpinlow and Ishtaden. He spent a lot of time trying to figure out the best possible way to expand Swift Claw territory. They wanted Talos Lake or at least a portion of it. Talos Lake was fed from Untz River and they believed it would serve as a way to spread their territory. They were obviously unaware of just how treacherous Untz River actually was. None of the Swift Claw had ever seen it before, but they had recovered maps from The Nightstar Clan that showed the river. Rhark spent countless nights trying to devise a plant to remove the Nightstars from Pazi. He did not want to do another assault on Pazi like Ihsu Swift Claw. It would undoubtedly end in the same fashion. The Nightstars had tunnels dug all throughout their territory and could pop up out of the ground before they were noticed.

It took Rhark several years to rebuild his forces and their equipment. He did have a plan, but it was risky and would result in a lot of deaths for the Swift Claws. He would take every warrior the Swift Claw had and split them into two separate forces. One would sneak through the desert and assault Durnork while the other force pushed up to assault Pazi. Pazi would be the main focus, the main goal. He was hoping that both towns being attacked at the same time would make The Nightstar Clan panic. They would send their forces to Durnork to protect the capital while Pazi would be left defenseless and the Swift Claw could take it easily. He did not like the plan, but he believed it would work. It meant that the forces attacking Durnork would ultimately be sent to their deaths with few returning. It would also mean that the Swift Claw territory would expand, but defending would be a challenge with half of his forces wiped out. Best case scenario, the Nightstars panic and in the confusion they lose both Pazi and Durnork. This kept Rhark awake most nights as he would lay awake at night trying to come up with a better plan.

One morning a messenger arrived to inform him that Chieftain Nork Blackfoot of The Blackfoot Clan was requesting to have a meeting with him. Rhark didn't know much about the Blackfoots other than they haven't tried to invade Swift Claw territory. He knew they were mostly peaceful as long as people didn't cross into their territory. He agreed to the meeting, mainly out of curiosity. He hadn't met a Chieftain from one of the other clans before. He wanted to know what they were like, and most importantly, were they similar to him? He went with the messenger to the border of Blackfoot territory where Nork was waiting. At the border, he saw that Nork and his men had setup camp just on their side surrounded by Blackfoot banners. Not to be out done, Rhark sent one of his men back to Ishtaden to gather banners and to setup a camp as well. Upon first looking at the Blackfoots, he noticed that their weapons, armor, clothing, and gear were well made and in excellent shape. He was a little shocked. He had heard rumors of how well the Blackfoots were doing but didn't think it was this good.

He met with Nork the next morning. He chose not to meet him on the day to arrive so that he could gather his thoughts and prepare for whatever this may be. Him and his men camped on their side of the border, while Nork and his men camped just 200ft away on their side of the border. During the meeting, Nork explained to him what he was trying to accomplish. He explained that he wanted to end the fighting and unite the kobolds under one banner. Rhark laughed when Nork pitched this idea to him. "Uniting the kobolds? Impossible!" he replied. Nork assured him that it was possible, but it would require every clan to work together and make some sacrifices. He then told Rhark that he wanted Ishtaden to be the new capital. He said that Ishtaden was in a perfect location, and that it didn't seem right for the new capital to be in Blackfoot territory since he was leading the Unification effort. He also told Rhark that all of the Chieftains would gather in Ishtaden to work out differences and to come up with a plan for Unification. Rhark was taken aback by all of these. He didn't believe it would work and agreed to work with Nork as long as no forces would arrive in Ishtaden. Rhark only wanted the Chieftains and their personal guards to arrive and that he would not tolerate any major force stepping foot in Swift Clan territory or staging near the territory. Nork agreed with him. Once the meeting took place and the Chieftains agreed on Unification, Rhark was the first to recommend Nork Blackfoot as the Grand Chieftain of Nilrodhi.

After unification, Rhark works closely with Nork. Rhark mainly oversee's the Swift Claw clan, but will occasionally assist Nork since they are in the same town.
