The Pantheons
Overview
Gods within the Al'Akyrian Realms are varied, cultures across the realm have their own representations and interpretations of different gods and while some may overlap, not all do. Some cultures may even have the the same god, but ruling over different domains within their culture as to them the god has a different meaning. There are many different types of gods within Abaz'shala as well, from Old Ones, Primordial Gods, to even the lowliest of Imperial Gods.Old Ones
Old Ones are the oldest known beings in the universe. Old Ones represent the base, primordial aspects that make up life. Death, Chaos, Life, among others are the domains of the Old Ones. They each lay down a foundation for the mortals to live by and are by far the most powerful of all the deities. They do not rely on worship, nor do they rely on the amount of their domain that in manifested. Their power is raw and infinite in scale, the only thing stopping the Old Ones from waging an all out war against each other is an ancient pact that lays out the rules for how they interact with the mortal races and the realm itself.Primordial Gods
Primordial Gods are manifested through the simple existence of the elements themselves. There are four Primordial Gods, each representing the four basic elements that make up everything, fire, earth, water, and air. The Primordials rule over the elemental planes and maintain their power by their element being present in the realm. However, being representations of the elements themselves, they can take on many of the characteristics of the primal aspects they represent.Imperial Gods
Finally, Imperial Gods, the least powerful of the three types but still far greater than what most mortals will achieve. Imperial Gods are concepts made manifest through worship and belief. They are concepts and ideals given form through the populace. Unlike the other gods, their power is not inherent, instead their power is based on how strongly and how many people believe in their domain and worship them as a deity. This, however, can cause some strange interactions between cultures where an Imperial God might almost exist within another culture, with one key difference that might lead to a completely different manifestation. Beyond that, Imperial Gods also encompass a very unique type of god, mortals who rose to divinity by sheer force of power, or perhaps, mortals granted favor by the Old Ones and became deified. The River Kingdoms
The River Kingdom's Pantheon houses a great many deities, some of which are ascended mortals, and many of which were simply given their domains by their followers. It is divided into many different cults and religions, churches and holy orders. From the Knights of Jaxus to The Cathedral of Her Divine Grace. Some notable cults include The Twisted Path and The Order of the Bloody Shield. Many people call this place home, and in a fractured and war-torn land, many people look to religion to help guide their daily lives. While a great many deities exist, they are all competing for influence and power over the people and the region. The Sundered Pantheon
The Sundered Pantheon is the pantheon of the lost Dwarven holds of The Sundered Peaks. These Dwarves have lost many of their holds and their culture has been mostly integrated into that of the nearby River Kingdoms, though many do still cling onto their traditions and religion, many now rallying under Lord Volnus and his push to reclaim the Dwarven holds and rebuild the Azkor Grongi, reclaiming the halls and settling back into their true homes in the mountains. The Tölyr
The Tölyr is the pantheon of the Valnir. The northern tribes and clans pay homage to many gods which claim domain over their people. The pantheon is home to many mortals who rose to prominent positions amongst the gods as well. Due to their practice of magic and tradition, they tend to teach many shamans instead of traditional wizards, preferring to instead invoke the natural elements and spirits to guide and provide them with power instead of just raw arcane energy.Comhairle nan Dia
Comhairle nan Dia is the collection of deities that the Baegir venerate and pay tribute to. These gods are seen by them to be more 'natural' and in line with both the material and spiritual world that they are guided by. The gods themselves are plentiful and have many traditions focused around them. Each god plays an important role to the clans and tribes of The Stormswept Foothills. Many clans might worship the gods differently, but they all pay respect to them, if not for the gifts they give, then for fear of their wrath. The Supittogādio
The Supittogāido are the collection of Kami and other spirits, both benevolent and peaceful and malevolent and self-serving that guide the people of the Anamatsu Islands.
