Sebastian Frost
"In conclusion: the old era is over. We start today, this very day, in the Year Zero. We start with a human species united in purpose, united in mourning, and united to rebuild a gorious future!"
Early Life
Sebastian Frost was born on Iapetus, a moon of Saturn notorious for its lawlessness and the unchecked influence of organized crime. Unlike many of his peers who were drawn into the ranks of the Criminal underworld, Frost took a different path. He saw an opportunity in the chaos and decided that rather than exploiting it, he would impose order upon it. To achieve this, he founded the House of Frost, a Private Military Company (PMC) that quickly gained a reputation for its ruthless efficiency. Funding his enterprise through bounty hunting, Frost and his men targeted the heads of crime syndicates and high-value criminals, eliminating powerful figures and making Iapetus marginally safer. However, as his reputation grew, so did the opposition against him. The lawlessness of Iapetus proved too great a challenge, and Frost made the decision to relocate to Phoebe, another of Saturn’s moons. There, he sought to cement his status as a force to be reckoned with—something between a folk hero and a warlord, enforcing his own brand of justice with a firm but calculated hand.
The Cozine Disaster
Frost's trajectory changed forever when the Cozine-07 Probe returned to the Solar System, bringing with it a catastrophic wave of destruction. Phoebe, which had become his stronghold and the base of his growing PMC, was among the first targets of Cozine’s synthetic armies. His entire corporation was effectively wiped out overnight, and though no one knows exactly how he survived, Frost managed to escape with only a handful of his most trusted warriors. The survivors became nomads, joining local resistances in desperate battles against Cozine’s forces. However, their numbers continued to dwindle, and Frost realized that attrition would be their downfall unless he could find a new strategy. He turned his attention to an old solution: the Exemplar Clones, elite genetically engineered warriors that had once been mass-produced but had fallen out of widespread use since the formation of the Reformed Solar Commonwealth. Breaking away from the main resistance effort on Day 42 of the disaster, he made a daring dash to Mercury, where he reactivated dormant Cloning facilities and resumed production. Though Mercury fell on Day 65, Frost successfully evacuated his newly grown army aboard bulk freighters, transporting them to Earth. There, he executed a methodical takeover of Cloning facilities, gradually bringing them all under his control and maximizing the output of Exemplar clones. When Cozine’s forces landed on Earth on Day 121, Frost launched his counterattack on Day 150. The Exemplars struck across every Terran continent simultaneously, crippling Cozine’s supply chains and creating an unrelenting wave of resistance. By Day 200, Earth was secure, marking humanity’s first major victory against Cozine’s forces.
Aftermath
As Earth stabilized under Frost’s leadership, he expanded his coordination with other resistance leaders, namely Captain Mana Mey of the Final Fleet and Gideon Voss of the Disciples of the Singularity. With their aid, he was able to deploy his clones to contested worlds, engaging Cozine’s forces in battle after battle. Though no world was fully liberated in the way Earth had been, Frost’s strategies allowed humanity to challenge Cozine across multiple fronts, weakening its grip on the Solar System. However, as the war neared its climax, Frost’s role shifted. It was he who first conceptualized what would become known as Gideon’s Final Gambit—using cybernetically augmented minds to merge with AI systems and overwrite them, destroying both the individual and the artificial intelligence while creating something new. Some believe he personally convinced Gideon and Mey to give their lives in the final assault against Cozine-07, while others claim the decision was mutual. Regardless of the details, Frost was the last surviving member of the so-called Triple Resistance when the Apogee of the Singularity emerged, shutting down Cozine’s forces for good. With the battle won, he turned his attention to restoring order and ensuring that no single faction or warlord would exploit the chaos left behind.
Legacy
With Cozine-07 defeated and humanity free from immediate existential threat, Sebastian Frost took on a new identity—Aurelius—and positioned himself as the first Speaker for Mankind, the head of state of the newly formed Pan-Solar Consortium. His surviving mercenary commanders became the first Technocrats, forming an aristocracy of governance based on merit and expertise. He established the framework for what would become the Technocrat Registry, ensuring that leadership would be determined through both ability and algorithmic efficiency. His philosophy of “Harmony and Detente” became a guiding principle for the Consortium, emphasizing a balance between technological progress, human ambition, and systemic stability. By intertwining governance with machine-assisted decision-making, he sought to create a political system that would prevent the excesses of both unchecked authoritarianism and chaotic democracy. The balance between meritocracy and algorithmic oversight became a defining characteristic of the Consortium, shaping the future of human civilization in the post-Cozine era. Even centuries after his death, Aurelius remains a revered figure, remembered as the man who not only saved Earth but also built the foundation for humanity’s new order.
