House of Bommen

"We do not rule by conquest, nor by inheritance. We serve—because civilization demands stewards, not kings."
— Favro Bommen, undefined Bommen

House of Bommen: Stewards of Civilization

The House of Bommen, adorned in silver and white fractals, is one of the oldest and most venerable Great Houses in the Pan-Solar Consortium. Their seat on Luna, Earth's moon, places them in the bureaucratic heart of human civilization. Known for their deep entrenchment in the governance of the PSC, House Bommen does not pursue power in the same manner as their peers. Their influence stems not from war or trade, but from their legacy of unshakable administrative integrity. Luna itself, now a resplendent world of freshwater lakes and glittering towers under stable orbital pressors, bears the mark of Bommen’s vision. The House maintains a presence across every agency and department on Luna, not for the sake of control, but to keep the machine of civilization running cleanly and honestly.

Rise of the House of Bommen

Bommen's dominance over Luna was not preordained—it was earned, and at times, taken. The House's origin lies in a three-way partnership during the reterraforming of Luna in the wake of the Cozine Disaster. The Houses of Bommen, Grim, and Stevine shared the colossal task of rebuilding the Moon from a ruined seat of the Reformed Solar Commonwealth into a shining jewel of the reborn human polity. But unity cracked when conflict over legacy real estate devolved into a fatal duel between heirs of Grim and Stevine. House Bommen, through the calculated marriage of Semona Grim to Xander Bommen, absorbed Grim entirely. Years later, after decimating Stevine's fortunes through superior political maneuvering and market dominance, Bommen officially took Stevine as a vassal house. What followed was a golden age of administrative expansion, with Bommen presiding over a unified Luna.

The Machine

Today, House Bommen's presence is so ubiquitous in the bureaucratic framework of the Pan-Solar Consortium that few laws, treaties, or interstellar contracts are written without a Bommen Technocrat touching them. Unlike other Houses, they are famously hostile to corruption—an attempted bribe is more likely to result in a summary execution than a disciplinary hearing. The House’s dual heads, Favro and Elizhia Bommen, are known as paragons of technocratic honor, with over a dozen dead influence peddlers to their name. The House’s goal has never been overt power, but stability, and it is this very humility that makes them perhaps the most powerful House of all. Their allegiance is not to ideology, but to order—and in the Age of Convergence, that makes them indispensable.
