The Aryan Isles

The Aryan Isles is a small nation consisting of major islands and a handful of smaller islands located off the southern coast of Valentia. The Aryan Isles is perhaps the most diverse country in all of Valentia, despite also being the smallest. It’s the only country without a recognized primary god, as well as the only country to be home to major elvan, dwarven, and human cities. The fair weather, shipping channels, and effective government of the Isles has allowed it to thrive in a way few would have thought to be possible.

Structure

The Aryan Isles function as a matriarchy, with the Queen assuming dominion over the surrounding territories. Directly beneath the Queen is The Council of Isles, who are responsible for all legislative actions on the Isles. For judicial responsibilities, the Queen defers to The Arbiter  who makes the final decisions regarding the law. Below the main three powers of government lies the three Island Lord

Culture

The Aryan Isles stands out from the other nations of Valentia for their culture of inclusion and compassion. Normally, elves, dwarves, humans, tieflings, dragonborns, etc. have been known to be at odds with each other over their differences. Each race tends to stay to themselves and keep the intermingling to a minimum. Under the leadership of the wise and fair Lady Arya Ianrel , all of that changed on The Isles. In every city and town, you'll find creatures from all over the spectrum living together in (relative) harmony. This inclusiveness has given The Isles a reputation as being a safe haven away from all the discrimination and judgement on the rest of the continent.    The Progressive Nature of The Isles has resulted in a culture that could only be described as a true hybrid. It is common for beings on the Isles to speak up to three languages, and many shops sell fine elvan craftmanship right alongside sturdy dwarven weaponry. Knowledge is the primary desire here, and most folks spend their free time learning a new skill or researching ancient runes.

Gold and Silver stored in the Aryan National Reserve, The Aryan Military, Calvary, some magical weapons, and The Royal Palace.

History

The Aryan Isles were founded by Lady Arya Ianrel, an elf who sought to create a haven for all those who were shunned by society. Together with her closest advisors, she created a kingdom capable of withstanding the test of time.

Demography and Population

The Aryan Isles is approximately 60% human, with skin tones ranging from tan to darker brown. Most of the humans tend to take up residence on Ianrel Island with the remaining few populating the other two major islands. Amongst the human population, they are split almost evenly on gender (55% are male). The human population has been increasing steadily over time, thanks largely in part to the increased number of citizens that have immigrated from the surrounding continents.    The other 40% of the population is comprised of a combination of dwarves, elves, goblins, orcs, and a few scattered tiefling tribes. Most of the elves take up residence in the elven city of Uyamel, with the dwarves residing in a more spread out method.

Territories

The Aryan Isles occupies the group of islands off the south of eastern Valentia near The Wildark. Originally, the territory was completley barren of all civilization, but they were able to claim the territory after a successful expedition lead by their founder Lady Arya Ianrel.

Military

The Aryan Isles has a standing army of about three to four thousand soldiers at any given time. Most of the military spends their time patrolling the settlements of the Isles, or participating in training exercises. Due to the long streak of Peace on The Isles, they rarely see use. The Aryan Isles also has a prominent navy, making them one of the most challenging opponents on the open waters of The Veil.

Foreign Relations

The Isles are on good to neutral terms with all other countries in Valentia. Their abundance of trade ports and looser customs entices merchants from all over the continent. This has put them on good footing with other nations, as they represent a trustworthy trade party as well as a neutral party for any major conflicts between countries.   The Aryan Isles is also on good terms with the nations on Epax and Ogris, though these relationships are usually less developed. This is due to the geographic distance between The Isles and the other two continents.

Legislative Body
The three main islands of The Aryan Isles (Ianrel, Nym, and Yager) each elect two representatives to fill out The Isles' central council. This council is responsible for establishing the laws of the Isles, as well as for voting on new amendments to pass. Voting for these representatives (referred to commonly as The Council of Isles) is done by the noble houses located within the Isles.
Judicial Body
The interpretation of the law is handled by an individual known as The Arbiter , who interprets Aryan law and hand out the final judgement on any important judicial matters. For smaller matters, The Arbiter defers to local judges to implement their decisions.
Executive Body
The Matriarch of The Aryan Isles is the one responsible for enforcing laws enacted by The Council. Ultimately, she still retains some manner of veto power against decisions made by The Arbiter and The Council of Isles. However, in order to promote some manner of democracy, this veto power is rarely tapped into. The queen's veto can also be overturned by a majority vote of the noble houses on the Isles.
