Valentia (Val-en-chee-ya)

Valentia is one of the three continents that comprise the world of Terramor. It is a land of fair weather, varying terrain, and political tension. You would be hard pressed to find a landmass that was more all encompassing than Valentia. All manner of biomes can be found upon it, including deserts, jungles, mountains, and tundras. Much of Valentia is accessible via roads and ship, thanks to well over a century of profitable trade amongst the inhabitants.     To the south, lies the unclaimed wilderness of The Wildark. This dense and sprawling biome has been the final resting place of many adventurers eager to chart its unknown borders. Above that lies Ugren, a land of rolling dunes and few foliage. Ugren's settlements are few and far between, usually existing where access to farmland and water are available. Ugren shares its borders with Asterok, a mostly dwarven nation of lofty mountains and wondrous forests. Asterok, while somewhat small in comparison to their neighbors, is fiercely proud and will defend their lands, and their resources, against all invaders. To the west of Asterok is the Iben Republic. This woodland nation of elves prefer to keep out of the diplomatic affairs of the other nations on Valentia, instead focusing on mastering their crafts to create sprawling elven cities that exist in harmony with the massive oaks that populate their borders.     Perhaps Valentia's most distinctive land mark would be the large range of mountains that split the continent almost perfectly in half. These imposing mountains, called The Grand Divide, have only one way through; a narrow opening to the west known simply as The Pass. To the north of The Grand Divide lies Varen. This sprawling kingdom is easily the largest in all of Valentia, encompassing a little more than a third of the entire landmass. Varen is a land defined by two things: military expansionism, and robust innovation. Both of these traits has lead to Varen becoming one of the most respected, and most feared, civilizations of the world. At the northern end of Valentia you will find the Carolheim Confederacy. This group of cold mountainous islands were originally individual countries in their own right, but have sinced formed an alliance in the threat of Varen's expansion.   The denizens of Valentia are as diverse as the land itself. With a bit of time (and luck), one could reasonably expect to encounter everything from a simple human to a proud dragonborn and everything in between. That being said, most of the creatures on Valentia are human, so most settlements tend to be comprised mostly by them.

Geography

Valentia contains various types of Geography. In the northernmost parts, the terrain tends to be more mountainous and the elevation increases and decreases rapidly over a relatively short distance. The continent flattens out towards The Grand Divide, with flat plains of farmland and snow surrounding either sides of the mountain range. South of The Grand Divide, the terrain again becomes more rocky before transitioning into the rolling dunes of the Seri Desert. The southern most tip of Valentia is covered in a dense jungle that encompasses various uncharted mountains. Valentia is host to various rivers and bodies of water along the continent, providing a relatively consistent resource for all creatures that live there.    Valentia has its fair share of fauna as well. The sight snow-covered tips of the Aramark Woods in Varen during the wee hours of the morning is known to be one of nature's true gifts. It's also been said that the view from the top of the tallest mountain in the Grand Divide is breathtaking for anyone brave enough to scale its peaks.

Natural Resources

Valentia is home to various forests that can act as natural wood reserves. It is also relatively abundant in farm animals (pigs, sheep, cows, etc.). Underneath the surface large mineral deposits can be found leading to a surplus in metals such as iron and copper. Valentia also has a limited amount of the highly sought after metal called Tritanite which can be found in The Belus Mountains region and underneath The Grand Divide
