Silvercove Landing

Introduction:

Welcome one and all to the town of Silvercove Landing! This port town acts a trade stop for all manner of ships and merchants looking to restock before containing on their voyages. Located on the eastern Coast of the Aryan Isles, Silver cove Landing beckons to individuals all over the continent for its inclusion and opportunities. Many novice adventurers have started their journeys here, and the town is all too familiar with young starry-eyed individuals looking to leave their mark on the ages.   With its (somewhat) cheap housing, plentiful guild halls, and proximity to several nearby dungeon hotspots, Silvercove stands out as an ideal starting point for any newly formed parties.   The city includes all manner of creatures, ranging from a Loxodon to even the occasional Tortle!   Perhaps one of the most appealing features of Silvercove Landing is that in this town of new beginnings, few questions are asked of one's past. Everyone has a reason to start here, and everyone deserves redemption, at least according to the adventurer guild's master.

Demographics

Silvercove Landing consists of mostly lower to middle class residents living in relative prosperity (for a port town). Most of the residents of the town are human (roughly half), with the other half following the relative distribution of the rest of The Isles. In particular, Silvercove is home to an above average number of tieflings, many of whom run businesses there. Due to the abundance of them, Silvercove acts as one of the few places in the kingdom where it can be said there are no ill feelings towards any horned residents there.

Government

Silvercove Landing has a local mayor, who reports to the Council of the Isles. Under the mayor, there are several people who fulfill minor for the local government, including but not limited to:   The Lawmaster - They are responsible for writing local laws and enforcing national Aryan law as well The Tax Collector - Responsible for the collection of taxes and paying a stipend to the monarchy for the national government Head of The Guard - Responsible for maintaining all local law enforcement in Silvercove

Defences

A few armed ships, several armed guards, and a stone wall that surrounds the middle and upper districts of the city.

Industry & Trade

Silvercove relies heavily around doing trade with incoming merchant ships. Most citizens in the town work down on the docks, either fixing ships or working to unload goods. Down in the trade ward, all types of vendors can be found that sell items from all over Valentia. A large part of the cities income also revolves around fishing, and as such, it's very common to see many a fisherman loading up a vessel for a fishing expedition or simply casting a line off Enrose Harbor.

Infrastructure

Silvercove is a pretty well developed city from an urban perspective. It has a small sewer system that runs beneath the central hub the city, allowing for basic plumbing and bath houses. The streets are lined with relatively flat stone roads arranged in grids near the center, with more winding paths on the outskirts of the city. Silvercove has two main bridges, one connecting to the Silvercove lighthouse, and the other overlooking some of the docks in Enrose Harbor.   Enrose Harbor is also home to the town's main shipyard, where minor (and sometimes major) repairs and construction occurs for docked vessels.    In Fogwood, the lower end part of the city, the urban planning aspects found near the Trade Ward and Fortune's Row begin to fade away. The streets transition from fine stone to uneven cobblestone.  Overall, Silvercove Harbor has the feelings of a town where anything is possible. Everyone there is eager to make something of themselves, and while it may somewhat shabby to an outsider, this port town is extremely functional.

Assets

Silvercove Landing contains an abundance of traded goods stored in The Trade Ward, as well as a few vaults that contain coin to be traded with. In House Beaumont, there is a very small repository of certain magical items that Nicolas Beaumont desired to keep for himself and out of the hands of those he deemed less capable of using them.

Guilds and Factions

Silvercove Harbor has a few different guilds. In the Trade Ward, there are a handful of minor trading guilds, with the likes of The Seafarer's Alliance and The Aryan National Merchant Guild claiming the top two spots. Perhaps the most well known guild is The Silvercove Adventurer's Guild. This guild is known far and wide for being the one stop shop for would be adventurers. They provide starting equipment (at a reasonable price), information about the surrounding geography, as well as a postings board to provide work for parties in need of funds.

History

Silvercove Landing was founded in 1025 N.E, shortly after the founding of The Aryan Isles.

Tourism

Many that come to Silvercove do so to experience the culture of inclusion. Here, anyone can make a fresh start and the air always has a feeling of potential to it. Besides that, Silvercove Beach is a favorite spot for travelers to break for a bit of much needed rest and relaxation.

Architecture

Mostly simple medieval structures built using stone (or cobblestone), wood, and in rare instances, metal. The coloring scheme in the lower end of the city tends to be a bit paler, with more vibrant colors being found in the upper end. Most houses in the middle to upper districts have glass windows, with some houses in Fogwood having wooden outlines for windows but lacking the actual glass panes.

Geography

Silvercove Landing is built on a flat piece of land which shores up against The Ringdwell Gulf. There are a few rocks in Silvercove's harbor which can snare any ill equipped sea captain.

Natural Resources

Silvercove Landing is abundant in fish, surrounding farmlands, a nearby forest full of usable lumber (and edible fauna).
