The Realm of the Dethroned Hag

Geography

While known as the Marshes, the main geography of the area following the Bekkar River that goes through Talvel's Point is wooded. Thick dark trees dot over boggy marshlands, the Bekkar Marshes sits within the Great Glen, a mystical and largely unmapped area of the world.
 
Since the arrival of the Dreaded Hag, Polly Knucklebones, the forest has become a lot darker, being manipulated and bent to her servitude. Tree lines are decorated with the rotting carcasses of her victims, bogs and waters become thick and stench with blood or faeces, bones and skeletons litter the ground like autumn leaves, trees wither and rot faster.
 
The closer you walk down a desolate forgotten path to the ruined Bekkar Millhouse, the more you notice strange runic carvings in the trees of some lost language, ragdolls and twig fetishes hang from branches, and bloated bodies sit there in beds of water polluting the environment.

Fauna & Flora

The usual woodland wildlife is found here, but seem to be more aggressive and evil variants. For example, stags will have larger antlers, each point evolved into razor edges that snag and rip at skin if caught; or bears which will eat out their preys' vocal chords so as to mimic the cries that will attract more. Songbirds are the only "good" creatures seemingly left in this part of the Great Glen, their colours and tunes supposedly being a guide from nature itself to assist the lost on escaping the Marshes. Rodents, snakes, insects and toads all seem to be in larger profusion as well.
 
After centuries of corruption by the Hag, the flora has also become thick, barbed and twisted, taking travellers longer to traverse the geography than they used to. Trees have withered and according to some folklore, itself attacking those that enter the Old Hag's "territory".
 
Whispered rumours speak of a community of cultists or the deranged hiding in the Bekkar Marshes, under the will of Dread Knucklebones.
