War College

Overview

The Warrior is a master of war - as such he seeks to learn the best, from the best. This has caused several War Colleges to develop - schools that specialise in the art of war and in particular in individual combat.

Class Specifics

Only Warriors are accepted into War Colleges. Paladins have their own methods of elite training and Rangers have the Lodge system.

Colleges

A College acts as a safe house for Rangers. It provides training and on going support. The benefits of Membership include:

Free Stay

The local College will always have a bed and often a room available for a member and sometimes their party too - as long as an opposing college member is not among them.

Facilities

Access to the College includes food, stay, repairs to weaponry and level training for Warriors. The network includes a branch in every town and in many villages - where they run dueling clubs and fight club type entertainment on a regular basis.

College Rules

College rules differ between colleges. But generally the rules are as follows:

1. Reputation before Dishonor

All actions in the College earn you merits or demerits towards your reputation in the College.

2. Lifelong Membership

You are a lifelong member of the College until your Merits hit 0 or a negative number. At that point you are ejected from the College (can appeal if need be).

3. Progression through Competition

To progress you defeat other college students in duels, contribute war knowledge or undertake quests for the College.

4. Duels

The War College Students often take part in duels - these can be to first blood - which is often a one round affair, or to 50% health loss - and of course to death.

Duel Acceptance Rules

No duel may be denied where all three primary rules have been correctly adhered to. A. An insult must have been given either to a member of the party of the college student or to themselves directly.

B. A claim of dishonor has been made or physical impact of an aggressive nature has occurred that has not been apologised for.

C.The insult, dishonor or physical abuse, may be ignored if the assailant is a minor, intoxicated, a lunatic, a criminal, a non-humanoid, or a family member.

D. For every level that the opponent is below yours, you lose one reputation point with your College. If the opponent is more than 3 levels below your level then 5 reputation points per level difference will be lost.

5. Duel Procedures

All Duelists shall be provided with qualified Seconds from the War College, the Challenger shall have the choice of: Weapon Choice, Location of Duel, as well as Time and Date of Duel.

Structure

The War Colleges were established by Royal Charter - they have their own Principal - Bellum Deans - normally one for Defense arts and one for Offense. Then there are sub-groups of Instructors each being a specialist in different elements of combat.

Culture

The Colleges provide Warriors with a strong combat grounding and a network of College graduates who will aid the Warrior at different points in their career.

History

The War Colleges come from the need for Warriors to gain prestige back into their profession after a short civil disturbance was created by groups of Warriors in Atlantis. The Code Duello was discovered by Atlantean Library Researchers, and put in to circulation to create a Dueling Method of dealing with civil disagreements.
