Half-Elf Atlantean

Source: AD&D Half-Elf Race

Overview

The Half-Elven population is a small but growing population in Atlantis as the Human and Elven races are now interacting more than ever. The two largest populations of Half-Elves are based in the the City of Cadiz, and the City of Atlantis.

The Half-Elven populations largely follow their Human parentage over their Elven as the Human community is more time conscious than the Elven Community. An Elf often takes years to fulfill their obligations in trade and contracts - simply because they have centuries to live and therefore see no hurry in fulfilling their side of the bargain. The Elves will accept a Half-Elf into the House of the Elven Parent and the Half-Elf will enjoy all of the rights of that Household. The training and abilities of the Half-Elf will be limited to not including the Bladesong skills of an Elven family.

Half-Elves resemble their Elven Progenitors mainly in the eyes and eyebrows, but not always in the ears (25% chance of Human Ears). They are therefore often recognised immediately and are seen as a blessing by most races as it shows the Lunerials have blessed a mortal family with their power.

A Half-Elf can blend in with any Human or Elven Culture through their adaptability and many keep their true nature a secret whilst staying in their human settlements - indeed. some Half-Elves are taught by their human parent to remain hidden in order to keep their true nature a secret to prevent jealousy or kidnapping. The Half-Elf is effectively a Changeling - a part-elf raised as a human being. If a Player Character chooses they may be raised as a Human in all regards with the benefits of stealth, infravision, and noting of secret and concealed doors without any limitations on how they are treated by their adopted human society - the same can be said if they choose to follow their Elven heritage.

Elves feel they have to welcome all Half-Elves as a boon to the race - they mature faster and breed faster too - allowing for a speedier return of the Elven race to it's full power. All the help possible is needed for the Elves to succeed to overcoming the forces that have destroyed their home and to gain revenge on whomsoever it was who inflicted it. As such all Half-Elves are treated as full members of the race - invited in and trained as best is possible. They are seen by most as the possible saviors of the race in the future.
