The Battle of the Fallen Moon

Military action

493AC

The People's Army breaks winter camp and razes the town of Bren'niin. They head south, bound for Shal'Ashen, skirting the western fringes of the hills in the Blighted Wood. They call a halt when confronted with an Elynthi force. On the eve of battle, with Dyianr'ri's Army outnumbering the Elynthi forces by a four-to-one margin, Selengar Shal'Ashen begins a powerful incantation. As the moon Mora begins to rise, he completes his spell, wrenching the moon from the sky and smashing it into Dyianr'ri's encampment. While the moon crashes into Tarien for only an instant before being pulled back into the night sky, the devastation is overwhelming. Over 95% of Dyian'ri's Army is destroyed in what becomes known as the Battle of the Fallen Moon. The remaining few flee across the Darien Plain, pursued by the now much larger force of Elynthi. Rumors that Ver'sheli Roen'shai, one of Dyianr'ri's top generals, escaped with the great blade Veracous persist.
