Merdenkal Peninsula
When scholars from the University of Karradone first catalogued the regions of Tarien, the Merdenakal Peninsula was known as the "Shadowed East." This moniker certainly described an Eldorian-centric view of the continent. Little was known the Elanthai Council beyond rumors of demon-worship that Soulmeliti - long allies of the Emperor - perpetuated. The Great War did little to dissuade such nomenclature. When the Empire formally began diplomatic relations with the Elanthai Council, however, envoys suggested that perhaps scholars might use the Elynthi name for the region.
Located in the northeast of Tarien, much of the region is a hilly and wooded peninsula jutting out into the Sea of Dreams. Officially, it extends along the coasts both north and south of the peninsula where dissuade landscape prevails. Winters see cooler temperatures with light snow and ample rain falls during both the spring and summer. Home to a variety of woodland animals, both common and arcane, there is still little known about the specifics of the region beyond that fact that somewhere within its hills is one of Tarien's most valuable assts, veins of Blacksteel.
It is, of course, home to the Elynthi and the Elanthai Council which governs theirs factional families. Named for the great wizard who lead his people freedom, the name of the region has become eponymous with nation-state.
