Other than his height - he was not a tall man even when he wore the high, hard leather boots that ranchers on the Clay Steppes so favor - Wilson epitomized what an Eldorian noble might imagine a Hinterlands homesteader looked like. With a wild beard, leather chaps, and sun-weathered skin beneath a broad brimmed hat, the Colonel cut an imposing figure on the back of War Stag. He could outride anyone on the Steppes except perhaps for the young Amelia Jasper and everyone followed his lead in Gunther's Riders naturally, there was almost no need to official appoint him its head. After over a decade of service and no sign of slowing down, most believed that Wilson would take over for General Tariif when he finally retired. Sadly, while on patrol in the eastern end of Malakar's Funnel a Kyushu lance, wielded from the back of a rhinoceros, knocked him from the saddle. His patrol, routed by the Kyushu raiders, was forced to leave his body behind, meaning that Wilson likely filled the bellies of the savages that cut him down.
