This black leather bound book is inscribed with silver runes that depict celestial objects including Tiras's children, Mora and Verdun. Inside, its writing in Draconic describes the complex rituals required to control ones destination when travelling through one of Tiras' Gates.
In addition to requiring at a least an hour to perform, the ritual requires at least 5,000 gp of diamond, which must be powdered and used to write glyphs on the frame of the gate and the expenditure of at least a 5th level spell slot for transit to another Gate in Tarien or a 7th level slot for travel to another Plane.
Any given copy of the Tomb will have the glyphs required for some, but not all, of the possible locations for transit. A typical Tomb will contain the glyphs for 2d4-1 2d4-1 gates located throughout Tarien and 1d4-1 1d4-1 gates located on other planes.
Travel in this manner circumvents the Translocation Ban but of course, only works between various gates.
The Tome also contains instructions on how to successfully lock a gate and perhaps, when combined with a magical weapon of great enough power, destroy it. A Gate locked in such manner can only be unlocked by reversing the steps within the tomb. Both locking and unlocking the gate are rituals that consume a 5th level spell slot.
