Salt River
Connecting the Sintarien Sea and the poorly named East Marogal Sea, the Salt River is really a straight that cuts into Azermathia, running north past the Jungles of Ghana. A strong current fills these waters, heading northward and speeding the journey of any ship foolish enough to attempt passage. Despite the benefits of this current, none would try to navigate its many shoals and reefs for within its depths - some of which are said to reach leagues below the surface - patrols a terrifying levitation. This creature, which has been described as both squid and whale by the few it has left alive, patrols the Salt River and has sunk nearly every ship to attempt its passage since Ghana's first expedition. Only Antonio Brenkin's voyage, a century and half later, met with any success and he swears that his ship barely survived an encounter with a giant, squid-like creature.
