Raliph Markudar VI

Signer of the Drakshal Accords

Many historians consider King Raliph Markudar VI, ruler of Geyla, Lake Galen, and the surrounding valley known as Galencia, as the father of modern diplomacy. Like all diplomacy, his began not out a desire for friendship with strange races and far flung nations, but instead out of necessity. In this case, King Raliph inherited a crushing debt when he assumed the throne. This debt, stemming from the combined drains of the near century-long construction of the Cathedral of Arimathica and imbalance of trade with the Underground Kingdom of the Children of Kharl that begin innocently enough with Khadric mead. In response negotiated what is perhaps the first and certainly the longest standing treaty with a foreign nation - the Drakshal Accords.
Even before this treaty, Raliph sought alternative sources of revenue for the crown. Amazed by the hand crafted iron works that Khadric traders brought to Geyla's marketplaces, he sought to establish his own ironworks industry, sending volunteers to New Kharolin for long apprenticeships with Khadric smiths. Without raw materials, however, Raliph knew that his desire for a Galencian forges would never come to fruition. To that end, he established the Royal Ghendran Mining Corporation and charged them with the location, extraction, and processing of the ore deposits in the Kingdom and its surrounding mountains. Like the Drakshal Accords, the Mining Corporation is an prime economic engine of the Kingdom to this day.
