Well into his second century of service as a guardsman at the Styvalhyme Palace, Krebdiah had done little to distinguish himself. His palace duties meant that the never saw the glory of battle with the Orks that raided the northern edge of the Soulmeliti Forests and he had never distinguished himself in the tourneys held amongst the home guard or in the games of strategy popular among the Soulmeliti of his time. He was, however, a Soulmeliti blessed by Tyloma with a sense of timing. One evening while guarding the Forestspeaker he heard a single branch break in on the branches outside his charges sleeping chambers. Heedless of decorum, he charged into the room just in time to see an Elynthi assassin crawling through the window. Drawing his blade the slew the assassin, though at the cost of his own life - taken by a mere nick of a the cat-like creature's poisoned blade. His sacrifice, however, incurred such a debt to the Styvalhyme Family family that they rewarded his clan with positions of power in the Forests, beginning a rise to prominence that they enjoy to this day.
