Styvalhyme Family
The Styvalhyme family is Tarien's oldest political clan, having ruled the Soulmeliti Forests for over two and half thousand years since Algorinth Styvalhyme first united the Soulmeliti. They have survived countless political rivals and even the extermination of what, at the time was thought to be all living members of the family at the hands of Kal Moshin Shal'Madogin. Along with their longtime allies, the A'dorno Family, their leadership has not always satisfied the whole of the Soulmeliti people and many scholars find that their influence on the Forest and Tarien at large to be as negative as it is positive. Still, no other family has gathered the political strength to oust them.
Led today by Thantherian Styvalhyme, they have demonstrably less influence on Tarien than in previous centuries. Declaring that his people needed time to heal, the young Forestspeaker used his power to isolate the Soulmeliti Forests from outside influences, a decree that lost popularity as the decades wore on. A near coup, bloodless of course, by the Roen'shai Family nearly ended Styvalhhyme rule. Finally, citing the benefits to the nations silk weavers and porcelain producers, Thantherian opened the Forests for business again, shifting public opinion back in favor the family.
