Hathric

Fictional Kari-Zaro Ambassador

After his exploration of the Jungles of Thallox, the Eldorian cartogrpher and explorer Garrin of Krellia became fascinated with the simple, ritualistic lives of the Kari-Zaro. In his mind's eye, the Kari-zaro have perfected balance in their lives. While they may struggle with some of the base requirements of existence, such as shelter and regular sources of food, their communities represented something of a social ideal without the infighting and politics that one finds in a more civilized land.

He explored such notions in his 345 AC novel, Noble Savages, where Hatrhic, a young Kari-zaro warrior, accompanies a merchant to Karradone, showing Eldorian society from the point of view of an outsider. Hailed as major work of its time - both for its exploration of the notion of a perfect society but also for its cutting observations about Eldorian nobility. Scholars today have called into question the entire notion of Hathric as a hero and ambassador of the Kari-Zaro. Many literary critics - especially those in the many small nations of the Inner Seas that have overthrown the yoke of Eldorian rule - see Hathric as yet another underhanded Eldorian attempt to exert influence over other cultures.
