Grand Seminary
Under the direct control of the Lord Justice, the Grand Seminary is a school, of sorts, which trains novitiates to the Mennithite religion. Any freeman wishing to become a priest, known as a Confessor, may apply to the Grand Seminary. Their application, typically a few physical and mental tests as well as at least one interview, examines the fitness of their body, the sharpness of their mind, and the dedication of their spirit. Applications are only taken in the spring and only a small number of supplicants are accepted each year. Those that are accepted receive a year of religious, academic, and combat training before graduating into the ranks of the Confessors in the priesthood. The tops in each class, those who excel in one or more areas, are often invited to additional training that might lead to special careers, such as an Inquisitor, or into select sects, such as the Order of the Ebonblade.
Run by older, yet still spry Confessors, the Grand Seminary has a reputation for fundamentalist leanings. Its headmaster always sits on the Council of Fathers and historically has seen it as a duty to grow the faith from strong foundations of unwavering truth and justice.
The school itself is a small compound, located about a league north of the city. The stone-walled fortress sits upon the tallest hill in the region, a slender stone tower climbing nearly a hundred feet into the air to watch over the lands of the faithful.
