Inquisitors
Some women who follow the Lord Mennith's teachings are content to be just, attend services, and follow his laws. Still others feel him in their souls and are called to the priesthood. Only the most devout swear oaths that forsake all worldly comforts and don the habit of the Inquisitors. Pulled from the ranks of the most promising at the Grand Seminary, Inquisitors are the chosen among Menntih for they cannot be deceived by lies or misdirection. Called into ascertain the truth, they are feared by commoners, nobles, and priests alike, for their word is never doubted and zeal for justice unwavering.
Typically the Inquisitors, which are a small, self governing body headquartered in a non-descript temple in Mennith, are only called into an investigation when others - be they priest or noble guard, cannot find the truth. Their methods can be brutal and it is said that no one put to Question leaves without bearing their soul or without scars from the experience. Everyone is, after all, guilty of some injustice. More frighteningly, however, the Inquisitors can exert jurisdiction over almost any matter that the feel is of importance to Mennith, be it small domestic matter or a matter for the Council of Fathers. At times, they insert themselves into matters of extreme public interest. Others, into matters of seeming insignificance, often declaring that Mennith, in a vision, asked for their intervention. It is on these occasions that their true power is exerted.
