First Mate of the Nightrunner
Freyja left home years ago, taking with her the secrets of Smoke Powder, a back full of strange chemicals, metals, glasses, and other trinkets for her experiments in navigational equipment, and an insatiable curiosity for exploration. She served on a half-dozen ships in the Darsiac Ocean and Sea of Storms before joining up with the The Nightrunner. By this time her skills as an tinkerer had grown to the point where regularly built smoke powder weapons, telescopes, astrolabs and other assorted seafaring gadgets. While her tools were expensive, all of her profits disappeared into her research and failed experiments.
Marley Moreau, captain of the Nightrunner named her First Mate a few years after she joined the crew and has stockpiled Arki-blasts for her crew and even outfitted the ship with three Thunder Tubes. During peaceful times, the two bicker constantly, like an old married couple. During times of high stress they compliment each other and have pulled the ship and its crew out of some amazingly tight spots.
Dressed in a rainbow of brightly colored silks, the diminutive Nerrid bounces about the decks of the Nightrunner, alternating between barking orders to its crew and tinkering with her latest gadget. A fast friend of the captain, she has outfitted the Nightrunner with the latest smoke powder weapons and navigational gadgets.
