Cedric Kandar
Few believe that this young man is a direct descendant of the great 6th Century explorers whose name he bears. Still, he wears the signet ring of this once upstart, now disheveled Yatian house. Still, there is enough resemblance, especially around his nose (although that may be aided by his ample, curling mustache) that most believe could find the intrepid captains somewhere up his family tree. Despite the questions of his heritage, Cedric plays the role to the hilt, standing straight and even wearing tall heeled boots and favoring tall, three cornered hats to elevate his height.
“The trouble,” he will tell you with a booming voice, used to shouting across windy ship decks, “Is that exploring never makes one rich. It’s a game of continual reinvestment.” Of courses, anyone who knows their history will remember that the later Kandars made mountains of gold off of their memories and maps but, as the latest Cedric will lament, “Somewhere in the past centuries, my forebears squandered that too!” Regardless, Cedric spends his days entertaining nobles, his young wife on his arm, trying to secure funding for his own explorations.
With a handlebar mustache, booming voice, and lineage of great explorers, Lord Cedric Kandar brims with confidence. Unfortunately his family fortunes have waned over the preceding generations and he is desperate for funding for his next great adventure so he can make his own mark on history.
