Last Words
The fiery creature has barely fallen to the floor when a tremendous rumble shakes the volcano. Smoke thickens and fire shoots up from the center of the caldera. Amidst the chaos Cedric Kandar manages to crack open one blood encrusted eye. "Come here," he hisses. "Visit my wife, Lydia, in Rathgar. Tell her of my fate. This is my last request and discharges of your duty." He coughs weakly, spitting up blood. "Take this", he says, lamely waving a scroll in his hand upon, around which is wrapped a signet ring. "And she will pay you." He coughs again and the volcano shudders, the ground lurching violently.
Give the players a sign action to retrieve the scroll and ring and then have the ledge crumble, Cedric falling to a fiery death below. At that point, they can take one action to flee or you can have them reasonably suffer the same fate.

While there is a plenty of opportunities for experience on the flight, this encounter merely sets the stage and is not worth any.
