Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss: It has been a few years since my last reread but I love this series and novellas. Rothfuss makes the world (and characters) feel alive and vibrant. When I read those books, it feels like a celebration of the written word.
As far as Tarantellia is concerned, I'd love to: 1) bring that kind of love and passion into my world, and 2) tell stories that bring that kind of joy to someone else.
The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon: This series was my partner's first gift to me, so I'm incredibly biased. But talk about a badass woman on a mission. Watching her grow into herself - chef's kiss. Holy crapola. I'd love it if I could bring a fraction of that impact into my world.
Uprooted by Naomi Novick: That flower scene. It's been bookmarked. I made my partner read the book. It's truly one of my favorite reads of all time. I love that the world feel so big even though the scope is relatively small. Every moment matters.
