Caravan of Oddities

Over the past 100 years, few people consider life on the road a viable option. Between the constant speculation of a person's alliances and the fear of the road, it takes a passionate person to operate a Caravan of Oddities. To encourage trade and purchases, each one carries a writ of passage and a license to sell their goods signed by the presiding ruler of Orie Country.   Due to their rarities and assortment of goods, every Orie is excited about a visit. Some people wish to buy, others to make a trade, and all are keen for news, particularly, on the war. To promote goodwill and protect the caravans from theral seeking thieves, most caravan drivers will deposit their money into local banking systems.   Unfortunately, a lack of money does not mean they will have safe travels. To protect their assets on the road, the caravan drivers often hire guards from Orie guilds to provide safe passage.   A Caravan of Oddities owner may come from a variety of professions: tinker, alchemist, healer, etc. All of these people are considered high risk for magic use so for one of them to successfully obtain a writ and license indicates that they are safe for trade.   Despite the fear of losing their writs and licenses, many owners will drive to the Sparkling Estuary to trade with the mages of Scayrus. Typically, they can sell any magic item on their way back to the anti-magic center of the country.
Common Items Sold:
  • Jewelry (various materials): Rings, bracelets, necklaces, anklets, and crowns
  • Clothes: mostly fanciful shirts and dresses
  • Books: Various genres
  • Healing Tonics and Medicines (if the owner is a magic sympathizer, any magical potions are kept hidden and sold far away from the city)
  • Tapestries: purchased or traded for in Asma
  • Hand Cranked Gadgets and Gizmos
  • Oddities: Speaking Stones, Jar of Wind, Lost Artifacts
