Eyes of the Basilisk
An ancient organization reawakened to deal with the current threat of the Fallen and the Dark One. The leader of this group is a demon who summoned to this plane over 6000 years ago. They hide their identities under masks and rarely reveal their true identities or number to anyone outside of their immediate circle. Most of the members are nobles and wealthy businessmen who want to fight the dark one, not for good or altruism but so that they can continue acquiring gold and dominating the power base.
As the masked figures walk into the dim light the air around you goes silent. Not quiet or so you can hear a pin drop but the absence of sound. The hairs on the back of your neck stand up and your inner ear goes cold with the lack of any vibration. The experience is unnerving. Finally a warped gravelly voice emanates from the mask in the center. Clearly the voice has been magically altered to further protect the man's identity. "They eyes watch you..."

Structure
Hundreds of wealthy and ennobled men and women make up the structure of this organization. How one gains membership is different and distinct depending on your gold and class position. Those in the know, the upper echelon known as Didacts, meet with the leader and get their instructions. The didacts then meet with those that they trust and have gifted masks too. Very few know more than 2 or three members by name.
Culture
Owning the mask of the basilisk is the best way to identify those in the organization. The masks hold an enchantment that allows truesight several times a day. This ability reveals the sigil on the mask that is covered over by a minor illusion. The Eyes of the Basilisk also use several code phrases and a written code based on pictographs.
