World Ember 2023!!

Update: I didn't complete the word challenge I set for myself, but I completed WA's word challenge, which is good enough. I also almost completed all of the articles I challenged myself with. I will have to work on Prodryas at a later date. I also completed a few extras. Feel free to check out my list here or on the challenge page.

Planned list:

Vocational Government System - Their government system, which reaches out further than your typical government. It is a decentralized and cooperative society and this is what manages it all.
Banana Beetle - A decedent sized beetle with little bumps. Check it out for some art or a little excerpt from a future novel.
Birth Control - Some standard stuff and some unique to my world and culture stuff. There's nothing graphic, but it is a 18+ article since I didn't sugar coat sexual terms either.
City Fortresses - An introduction to the three unique city fortresses, important cultural centers for the Talithans. More details and future pictures to come, in both this article and individual fortress articles.
Chipless - All Talithans are apart of an identity system, which is connected to a digital system for management of people, resources, information sharing, etc. Some choose not to use it, this is about them.
Gender - Talitha Harbor is a gender confirming and accepting society. An overview of how their culture gives their people respect in terms of gender identity. It starts from birth.
Little Bug Juice - A Cultural drink served at festivals for children. It is a very sour drink made from berries. A fun challenge for those who decide to try it. I have a image I'm currently working on for this.
Prodryas - A large winged insect that looks somewhat like an Earth butterfly. This article is a start and will need more added later. I'm also in the middle of some art for this one. It is a unique creature, uses photosynthesis and migrates.

Extra:

Lilith Island Geodes - Geodes, but with something a little special inside.
Councillor Oles Vivek - One of the Council of Thirteen for the City of Anunitum. A sweet and caring man at the top of his game. The kind of person you'd want in that position (or so it seems... dun dun dun.... but that's far future spoilers you'll only learn about if you hang around).
Ouroboros Vocation - The people who care for the dead, and a few other duties. There's some info about funeral rites as well, though more detailed articles will be out later.

This year I am challenging myself to actually focus on World Ember and not on my NaNoWriMo project. For the previous two years, I missed most of Ember because I was so focused on said projects. But this year, I will set it aside and give Talitha Harbor some much needed love. 
I plan on writing sixteen articles. I will complete the eight articles listed below. They’re all empty articles that need words. I’ll also edit eight more articles based on provided prompts, with a goal of sixteen articles total. Unlike previous years, I am also going to make simpler and more straightforward, “front page,” articles. Then fill in the back page at a later date with all the minute details. 

Vocational Government System - The Vocational System is the core of their society. It’s not a governing body like most countries have. It is a set of thirteen different Vocations, each which manage a section of their life. There is one vocation that provides food, one that keeps the peace among the populace, one that manages resources and the planet’s ecology, etc. I have written more than 250k words of my series rough draft (multiple novels), I should be able to put this into succinct words by now. As they say in Talitha Harbor, may the universe be on my side.
Banana Beetle - This beetle features in my first novel in a small, but still important way. This one will be fun to write. It’s one of my favorite moments in my first novel. I’ll have to add a little teaser quote to it as well. Who doesn’t want a tease from a novel that probably won’t be out for another three to four years?
Birth Control - One of the original axioms on their founding document, The Ecology, was not to overpopulate the planet. They would take better care of Talitha Harbor than the Earthians took care of their planet. Keeping their numbers where their effect on the planet’s overall ecology was minimal was one of several ways they choose to honor this. They don’t control who gets to produce children. But, they take steps to reduce accidental pregnancies and make the choice to have a child an active one. They utilize both medical birth control and social norms.
City Fortresses - Each city has one enormous building that is a community and government center. Not a fortress in the Earthian sense. These buildings are still very important. Each city has its own unique fortress. I will finally plan Simmah’s (I have already planned the other two) and give a little blurb about them here.
Chipless - A term for Talithans who have chosen not to use the digital identity chip system. They are still respected and a part of society, though how they receive food and other services differs than among those with identity chips. This population is largely artisan, though there are others who choose this way of life.
Gender - When born, all Talithans are given a neutral gender and have their own special pronoun. The individual announces gender when they choose to, if they do at all. Gender is treated as a completely separated concept from someone’s physical makeup. Men, women, non-binary, agender, and everything else if fully accepted. One can change their gender identity whenever they please, and their name. There is no concept of a legal name. I have yet to decide what I want to use for the childhood pronoun. This will be the month I will do it! I’m roughly drafting book three, it’s probably time I figure it out, haha.

Prodryas - A large winged insect that looks somewhat like an Earth butterfly. This species is always bright green and can nourish itself via photosynthesis on its wings. That is not their only form of food, but it gets them through the long migration pattern that is native to the species. They will travel from the northern part of Simmah all the way to Pangu and some of the smaller islands before winter hits.

Last Minute Prep!

• Writing Warmup: NaNoWriMo is my warm-up... 60k words is a lot of writing

• Space Prep: I will be doing more desk area cleanup and organization as the cable management I ordered shows up. I don't really need to stock with snacks or anything like that since the kitchen isn't really that far away. InstaCart and I are already close friends, ha.

• Support: I have a lot of friends in the online writing community. Between Game of Tomes, my local NaNoWriMo friends, and other Twitch Writers, I never have to write alone.

• Writing Schedule: I am going to work on my articles during my streams. I join with friends in Discord twice a week for productivity sprints, join in Morgan Hazelwood (youtube/Twitch)'s streams on Sunday and I will be writing on my Twitch Streams. I'll post the schedule below if you want to join.
