Captain's Log. Stardate 96707.45. Kryptonian Commandos and the Human factor

Captain's Log. Stardate 96707.45. Captain Fel Kur'Talak acting captain of the Enduupar.   After having detected a spacial anomaly around the moon 'Titan' of the gas giant that Human's call 'Saturn', I send remote drones to investigate for a closer look. My first thought was that this would be good material for the next transmission to the students at the Gironde School as their teacher had invited me to be a guest lecturer - albeit remote - on astrophysics.   Now, I'm not a scientist and merely consider myself an armature at best. What this old bird could offer as insight to stellar phenomenon was beyond me. But their teacher assured me that I'm quite likely the best known expert on Saturn and its moon system.   Unfortunately, what the probes found were not some new stellar phenomenon, but an old adversary: Kryptonian Empire commandos.   I pulled back the drones, but they had already been spotted. The Kryptonian Ion Fighters made short work of my poorly defended scanner drones. It didn't take long at all for the Kryptonians to track down where those drones came from. Fortunately, due to the advice from young Feral, I regularly change the Enduupar's location by moving her between Saturn's mid-range moons.   So the Kryptonians had finally found me. The Enduupar hasn't had crew in generations beyond that of the combat droids. They are efficient but lack the intuition a well trained crew possesses. But it was what I have.   When the Kryptonian Scout group arrived, I was ready and good thing. The battle was ferocious. It didn't take long after they boarded, that I realized they weren't actually after me or the Enduupar. They were searching for something.   The Source Rings.   Those had been scattered some time ago for everyone's protection. The last thing anyone needed was say a Qwardian scientist to get all those rings and start experimenting by manipulating cosmic strings. Unfortunately, I was given one over my objections to protect. The Sapphire Ring.   The boarding action had not even really started when transdimensional beacon alarms activated. Then the humans appeared. Not in the stargate room as Wyldfire was - I hope - somewhat used to using by now. No, this was in a random section on the upper deck. Humans that didn't match any known visitor scans from before.   They were human, but they weren't Wyldfire.   I intercepted them right away. While I wasn't comfortable with non-Wyldfire members aboard, humans were far more welcome than a Kryptonian scout force bent on locating one of the more dangerous artifacts in the galaxy.   It turned out to be a group of humans from some organization I believe calls itself "SAFEGUARD". Now, I may be an old bird, but I recognize a "government watchdog" organization when I encounter one. We had them on Thanagar and I'm not surprised the humans have one on Earth, probably more.   What did surprise me was that where Wyldfire was a team. They were amazed but acted like a team. These "Safeguard" had a different demeanor. It was as if the organization threw a group together with no proper training. A collection of individuals with the same goal. Interesting.   Even more interesting was that two of this group seemed to be just allies of Safeguard. An Atlantean named Loki and an interesting meta-powered human named Sahara.   Despite that, they were brave and effective on their own. With their help we managed to secure the Sapphire Ring and regroup - after some false starts - to the infirmary. We also learned the Kryptonians had already acquired three of the other Source Rings. Three. The Jade, Ruby and Opal Source Rings, and one Kryptonian was wearing them. What I couldn't figure at the time was if that was Dr. Zar-Ur or General Dru-Zod himself. My suspicions said it was Dr. Zar-Ur, which meant that mad scientist had probably already experimented on the rings by now.   In any case my human allies were wanting to take the fight to the Kryptonians. A bold play. But one had an idea of luring the Kryptonians to trap that put them on the defensive. Human deviousness at its finest. We just needed a location. I knew who to call for advice. Wyldfire.   But I learned that that Safeguard and Wyldfire don't necessarily see eye to eye. That was something I should have expected. I've been too lax since being awakened from cryo-sleep. Fortunately, the groups did manage to see eye to eye long enough to hammer out a rough plan. With some help from an Atlantean we had our location: an ancient Atlantean ruin in the middle, probably under, the Sahara desert.   Using the coordinates provided, I encouraged the Safeguard team to join me in the stargate room. Once the gate was warmed up, I hit the distress beacon. I knew there was none of the old fleet left to pick up the distress call. But I also knew the Kryptonians would pick it up and home in on our location.   Perfect. After all, you can't have a trap without interesting bait.   I sent the others through the gate. The Safeguard team went first but were worried I would stay behind. As if I would miss the chance to spring a trap on the Kryptonians! No, I was the last through the gate with Loki right beside me. To our benefit, Loki generated a rather convincing hologram of me to lure the Kryptonian commandos inside. Clever that one.   From there, it was into the dry land of Earth's Sahara desert and the ruins of the Atlantean settlement.

Monsieur le Capitaine:   As this has been placed in the Resources for Study, it has been seen by myself, Corsair, a young future Space Pilot in training. It so happens that I am a member in excellent standing of a heroic team known as YOUNG JUSTICE who would make truly EXCELLENT part time crew peoples for your space vessel!   We have not one, but two genius inventors in our midst, and also we have persons who are excellent at driving plus they have spent many hours at digital simulations of flight vehicles, often with combat scenarios, and emerged victorious. We work together most excellently as a team. We have our strengths, which we respect in one another; but also, we are most efficiently experienced in trickery and sneaking and other activities which the authorities of our domain label "shenanigans".   The summer semester comes to an end soon, and the fall semester is traditionally a busy one for such as us. However, if you wish to arrange a -- shall we say -- "practical learning course" to begin shortly after the end-of-year holidays, I would be most happy to acquire the guidelines used by staff to judge suitability for such a program. You need only make the arrangements, and YOUNG JUSTICE can be at your disposal!   I remain, Your servant, Corsair
