Personal history
Thurim Aenarek was born the eldest son of the Clan Lord of clan Aedar, one of the eight major clans that dominated Dwarven society. During this time, Dwarven society was highly divided, split among the major clans who were in a near constant state of feuding among one another. It's these conditions that gave rise to Thurims desire to end the conflits that plagued the Dwarves of his day, and unite them under a single kingdom.
At the age of 37, Thurim, now Clan Lord of clan Aedar, set to work making his vision a reality. Realising he needed allies in order to see his ambition through, Thurim set to work building positive relations with the other clans, including providing material and monetary aid to them, and forging an alliance with clan Gherak (who at the time matched clan Aedar in power and influence) through his marriage to Neralah Klarek, the daughter of the ruling Clan Lord, and future High Queen of Durfaehn. Unfortunately, not all of the other clans would side with Thurims ambition, even attempting to forge their own high kingdoms under their own terms, resulting in a number of military conflicts between the two factions. Eventually, through a mix of shrewd diplomacy and military prowess, Thurim would succeed in creating his unified Dwarven kingdom, becoming its first High King at the age of 61.
