Crown of the High King

The Crown of the High King is the symbol of the Dwarven High Kings authority, and one of the most sacred relics of Dwarfkind. The crown itself consists of a circular silver band with eight rectangular points (each representing one of the eight major clans of Dwarven society) equally spaced apart along its circumference, and embellished with gold detailing and precious gems (particularly rubies, sapphires, and emeralds). Having existed for as long as the kingdom of Durfaehn itself, the Crown of the High King remains one of the finest and most influential works of craftsmanship ever produced by the Dwarves.

Manufacturing process

The silver was melted down first before being poured into a premade mold, followed by the gold that was used for the embellishments. After being allowed to cool, the gems were added as the final decorative elements.

History

According to Dwarven historical records, the Crown of the High King was first forged shortly after the last of the major clans were brought under High King Thurims rule. In order to mark this historic moment, the finest smiths of the major clans came together, bringing the finest pieces of gold, silver, and gems their clan possessed, in order to forge a crown worthy of the king who united their people. Upon its completion, the crown was presented to Thurim at his coronation, and has been passed down from one High King to the next ever since.

Significance

As its name would imply, the Crown serves as the symbol of the High Kings authority. This, combined with its connection to the first High King of the Dwarves (perhaps the single most influential historical figure among their people), makes the Crown of the High King one of the most culturally significant artifacts among the Dwarves.
