Half Race Rules
This page contains all the rules and guidelines you will need in order to create half races to play as. But before moving to the nitty gritty here is some world context that should be considered moving forward.
Ability Scores Increases: You will get half the score from each Race. IE, Elf with an Orc would give you +1 Wis and +1 Str instead of either +2 Wis or Str.
Size (+1): If there is a difference you choose.
Speed (+1): If there is a difference you choose.
Racial Traits (+1 per Trait): You may pick three traits from the base Racial Traits of either of your parents.
Lifespan (+1): If there is a difference you choose.
Average Height & Weight (+1): If there is a difference you choose, but your Height & Weight must come from the same Race.
Subrace (+1/Tiebreaker): You choose One from either Race. You will have noticed the +1s beside each of these Racial Traits. You will use those to calculate which half is most prominent in your Half Race. If there is a tie your Subrace will serve to break it. So if your tied with Human and Orc traits, and you chose an Orcish Subrace, you will be Half-Orc.
What Half Am I?
When creating a Half Race you will be choosing a number of racial traits between your parents two races. Whichever trait is dominant will indicate what race your character will more closely resemble. If your parents are an Orc and Human, and you have more Orc traits you will be called a Half-Orc and may just have blunted teeth and paler skin of an otherwise Orc complexion. If you have more Human traits you will be called Half-Human and might have some pointed teeth or slightly green skin. What Will My Kids Be?
Whichever are your more prominent traits is whatever you will pass down. A Half-Orc and a Human will have Half-Orc or Half-Human children. A Half-Human and a Human will have Human children. It is as simple as that and why there are no large communities of Half Races in the world.Who Can I Get My Bard On With?
Short answer, anyone who consents can have fun times with you. I am sure you can make it work you wild kids. Long answer, if you are looking at having children there are limits on who can procreate with each other based on a stupidly long and internal world lore that I will be breaking down into a simple chart for your character creation. The title row has no real basis or meaning in the world and should not be referenced in game. It is just a simple way to separate the races that are intertwined in a more complex manner. Simple put, if they are in the same column, they can have kids with each other.Ape-Likes | Stone-Likes | Magic-Likes | Green-Likes | Water-Likes |
