Instinctual Decision Making

Maybe because of their connection with the arcane. Or perhaps the environment they came up in suited action more than thought. Whatever the case is, Elves have an intense trust in intuition and instinct. Especially when it is their own. This doesn't mean they are careless or even reckless in their actions. They do, however, accept gut feelings and hunch's with the same level of consideration as physical evidence. This has led to frustration between Elves and non-elves in the past.    

Magic Resonance

The Elves have a unique connection with the arcane in Stelair, only exhibited elsewhere with the Spellweavers and, to a lesser degree, the Daru. Able to resonate with the very nature of magic and partially live off it. Biologically it is not fully understood how this is possible, even after centuries of people attempting to decipher it. This phenomenon, while essentially giving elves a sixth sense, also means they are more susceptible to magical effects.    

Biological Traits

Elves are tall lanky creatures with narrow features and eyes that range the entire color spectrum. Their hair only exists on their heads, long and luscious. They are not a physically strong species. However, their flexible joints and dexterous feet allow them a great amount of agility and freedom of movement. They are very attuned to the arcane in the world. Allowing them to feel its ebbs and flows in the area. This sense bleeds into their vision, but for the majority of their lives is only noticeable as a slight colored haze in their darkvision. As an Elf gets to their final years it is not unusual for them to lose their vision completely, seeing only in arcane auras as they did as children. They also become more sensitive to the magical changes around them. When an Elf dies a glowing stream of energy leaves their bodies and deflates like it lost all its muscle mass. The older they are when they die, the more pronounced this phenomenon becomes.   They reproduce normally for mammals, and pregnancy in the mother lasts for 11 months. After birth, babies are only able to see magical auras and the silhouettes of creatures. Being effectively blind to most of the world for the first 8 years of their lives. Their normal vision comes in around age 8 but doesn't fully develop until they reach adolescence at age 13. They stay fairly nearsighted for the majority of that time. They reach adulthood at age 18.   They prefer wooded and forested environments full of life, using their lanky bodies to move easily through the trees and bathe in the natural arcane energy emanating from the surrounding creatures and plants. Warm humid environments are the most comfortable for them. Dry air causes numerous skin problems that need to be kept up with to prevent painful skin cracking.

Naming Traditions

First-Second Family: (JorinFiil Loomuss)   First: A simple name adhering to common Portuguese.   Second: A shorter vowel filled named   Family: A name that has two sets of double vowels separated by consonants.     First Names are given by the parents of the child. They don't have any real traditional meaning. However, they are never used by themselves unless the person is familiar with the other. It is considered rude to use just the first name without permission or invitation.   Second Names are given by the parents of the child and are meant to distinguish the child. There are two common traditions with giving this name. One is the tradition of the First Sound, where the child's first sounds after birth are taken as their name. The other naming tradition is the one of First Sight, where the parents take the first emotion they feel and use its elven root word as this name. Either tradition is seen as the child's first impression on the world being forever given to them to carry on. This name is never used by itself and is always accompanied by the First Name. To speak someone's Second Name alone is to insult their very birth into this world.   Family Names are traditionally taken from the parent's Second Names put together. Though in cases where the parents are not around, other important figures or guardian's Second Names are used in their place. While unusual, it has been the case where parts of non-elven names are taken as a child's Family Name. Usually in the case of adoption or abandonment.

Gender Ideals

In their society, they hold no real predilection toward one gender or another. Age and experience is held above all else. Although the fact that men tend to biologically live a little longer then women does create an undertone of imbalance within their society.

Ability Score Increases: You gain 2 to your Wisdom score.   Size: Medium   Speed: Your base walking speed is 35ft   Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can see in colors, but they are hazy and very muted.   Arcane Attunement: You can feel magical effects within 60ft of you and if you stay in the same place for more than a month you can cast spells at one level higher.   Arcane Rejuvenation: You have to sleep, but they only need 4 hours as the ambient energies of Stelair refresh you faster.   Magic Vulnerability: You have Disadvantage on saves against Magical Effects.   Default Language
