Most Violent Friends

Sawgrim possesses a strange outlook on life that other peoples find very conflicting. You are a friend until you are an enemy, and you are an enemy until you are a friend. There is little distinction on if you are a friend or an enemy outside of how you are treating them at the moment. This makes "friendships" with Sawgrim potentially quite dangerous as there is a little grey area between friend and enemy, and that invisible line is different for each different person. On the other side of things, however, Sawgrim don't typically hold grudges either. You can be robbing their homes one day and buy them the drink next week and many will be chill about it. Not that they don't remember what you did, but it's all in being a good sport in the brutal game of life. At least in a Sawgrim's eyes.    

Meat is Meat

Sawgrim aren't the most socially tactful people. Beating around the bush and thinking of other people's feelings is not exactly their strong suit. So if you have a few extra bodies lying around you probably will get questioned by your Sawgrim friend whether you want to cook it up now or save it for later. They aren't without a moral code though. You kill a few thugs trying to rob you, well looks like you also got some snacks for the road. But if a close friend or family member dies, they won't be as eager to dig into the fresh corpse. Though they wouldn't mind anyone else who was less familiar with the person from chowing down.    

Biological Traits

Powerfully built, Sawgrim have naturally defined muscles that can be seen in their arms, legs, and around their abdomens. Their sleek rough-skinned bodies allow them to cut throw the water with ease. Fins also protrude from their backs and possess long powerful fin-tipped tails they use to swim. Their mouths take up a majority of their faces, leaving only some room for a pair of black glassy eyes and two nostril holes. They reproduce normally for mammals while being coldblooded creatures, and pregnancy lasts for 12 months for mothers. A Sawgrim child reaches maturity fairly late in their lives at age 12, though being physically and mentally capable as young as age 7. Physically they don't show their age, however, Sawgrim's replacement teeth do begin to dull as they age. Eventually, as they reach the end years of their life they stop making replacement teeth.   Sawgrim like warmer humid climates the best, but can tolerate the cold for a good while before it begins to affect them. Their biggest problem is staying out of the water too long. Without constant soaks or rainfall, a Sawgrims skin will begin to crack and split apart painfully. This can be healed with extended periods in water but it can lead to nasty scars being left behind.

Naming Traditions

Wau Makou: (Apela Sasilvia)   Wau: A Hawaiian themed name.   Makou: A Hawaiian themed name made by the parents.     Wau (Me) Names are given by the parents of the child and are kept throughout their lives. They are used in common conversations by those familiar to the person and are usually the only name a young Sawgrim will have unless they pair up with a romantic lover.   Makou (Ours) Names are a special thing that signifies the binding of a relationship between lovers. Together the couple will take a name that signifies their new status as mates. Sometimes this is a combination of their names, but usually, it is a brand new name that holds a special meaning to the couple.

Gender Ideals

Sawgrim does not hold any high regard for gender, meat is meat, muscle is muscle, and strength is strength. Their society is very rough where the weak get left behind. It doesn't matter what gender you are. Achieving equality doesn't empower anyone, instead it just makes everyone a viable target for brutality.

You can only see in shades of grey in the darkness. This is doubled while underwater.   Amphibious: You can breathe air and water.   Natural Weapon: As an Action you may use a bite. You are Proficient with this weapon and deal 1d8+Stregth Modifier in piercing damage.   Blood Scent: You can smell blood 300ft away underwater and 60ft away above water.   Grappled Combat: You have Advantage on attack rolls if you are grappling your target.   Default Language
