Mechis I Geographic Location in Star Wars: Shards | World Anvil

Mechis I

Mechis I, also known as 'Ember', is a violent world bathed in sulfurous, volcanic clouds and magnetic storms due to the close proximity and fast orbit around the primary star.

Geography

The world is a small world of rock and volcanoes. There isn't much atmosphere, but what is there is choked with clumps of sulfurous clouds.   It orbits the primary star in 52 standard days and completes a single 'day' in 42 standard days. This makes the world almost tidal locked to the primary star, causing one side to broil and the other freeze.   This motion, along with the close proximity to the primary star, causes large magnetic-ion storms that will ravage one hemisphere or another of the small world. These storms are massive enough that they can, and have, disrupted hyperspace jump activity as far out as Mechis II at times.   The storms happen every 125 to 132 days on the world.

Fauna & Flora

There is no known animal or plant life of any kind on the world, native or otherwise.

Natural Resources

It would be the abundant surfuric clouds that are the actual natural resource of Mechis I, rather than any minerals present on the surface. But, while tempting to mine, most attempts to establish gas mining there have not met with any success. The magnetic-ion storms destroy most skyborn and orbital mining habitats ability to remain aloft, sending the installations crashing to the surface.   In current times, installations - even some that had been established during the time of the early days of the Republic - lay as shattered ruins on the world's surface.
