WHiV Session 19: Pyramid Schemes

General Summary

Aug. 28, 1996

Carna arrived in Vegas at midnight to claim the Luxor Pyramid as her new chantry, giving the coterie time to tend to some errands around town. Anthony crafted a lovely bust of Victoria (as part of their agreement from the night before), and he fed a little on Johnny Depp to ease the actor's ghouled condition. Anthony also met up with Julia Wilton and revealed the world of darkness to her, Julia clearly still in shock but it didn't seem like she'd do anything reckless for the time being. Patrick and the others took a call from Maximilian Strauss, who'd learned about Carna's promotion and wasn't happy about a young upstart like her having a pyramid all her own.

The time finally arrived for the coterie to pick up Carna and her acolytes from the airport, with the Luxor Pyramid right next door they drove out together to give her the grand tour. The coterie was all ready to sign the paperwork and seal the deal, but it seemed that another group of vampires had already claimed the place as their own. Patrick discovered a coven of Tremere performing a ritual in the topmost floors, led by none of than Meerlinda herself. Patrick barely escaped with his life after a painful run-in with Meerlinda's blood sorcery, and Anthony didn't fare much better. Carna was ready for a full-on battle with the methuseleh, but the coterie talked her out of it and they retreated back to the Vegas World Casino.

The coterie was now at war with clan Tremere, and they'd have to pull all the favors around the city to fend off the invaders. The Ministry, being on such good terms with the coterie, offered eight of their members to help in the siege on the Pyramid. The Aviator agreed to loan out some of the magic items from his collection, but only on the condition that the coterie help him collect more items in the future (and ensure that they didn't fall into the hands of rival factions). Cesca could provide high-quality vehicles and weapons, but it was still unclear if they'd have enough manpower to fight one of the strongest vampires in the world.

The coterie had at least one other option as a last resort: having another methuseleh kill Meerlinda. Augustus Giovanni had arrived in town that night to begin setting up a 'family reunion' for all the vampiric necromancers, giving the coterie a boon in return for renting out the Vegas World Casino for a week. Giovanni was open to the idea of killing Meerlinda, but in return he wanted his necromancers to have full control of the floor that the Vegas World Massacre occurred on. Would the coterie be willing to give up so much power to deal with the Tremere?
