Las Vegas
A desert city of vice and gambling, Las Vegas has attracted tourists from all over the world for its high-flying shows and casinos. Reform efforts in the 70's and 80's cracked down on the Mafia's influence in the city, but its criminal history has proven hard to shake.
Vampires: The Camarilla hold control of the Vegas Strip, a Toreador currently serving as Prince under the alias Songstress since the winter of '95. Before her a different Toreador named Moe Green was Prince from 1948 - '94, but he was killed by a couple of hunters in a violent bombing in Vegas' upscale suburbs. He was more conciliatory with the Anarchs than princes in other cities, turning many of the city's casinos into a super-sized Elysium where are all welcome so long as their money's good. The Songstress has tried to do the same, relying on support from representatives from the Ministry and Clan Giovanni to bolster her rule.
Mages: A convention of Acanthus mages meets in Vegas every fall, testing the limits of fate and probability at the gambling tables. The Pentacle and Seers both have a limited presence in the region, allowing large cabals of Nameless mages to thrive in the desert.
Cthulhu Mythos: The desert has long been an excellent place to hide bodies and perform rituals. A supernatural massacre occured on New Year's Eve '93,, leaving 23 dead and the identity of the ghost-faced killer a mystery. The FBI investigation led by special agent Julia Rothman concluded that the attack was a botched mafia job that quickly got of out hand, but questions still abound about the ghost-faced killer's identity and methods.
