WHiV Session 16: Mixed Negotiations
General Summary
Aug. 24 - 25, 1996
With the coterie away in Kansas City, Patrick oversaw Vegas on his own as a powerful rainstorm raged through the city. He received a call from Maximilian Strauss indicating that clan Tremere had conjured the storm to intimidate the coterie into agreeing to Strauss' terms for a chantry in the city, but Patrick held his ground and refused to negotiate. While such a ritual required an obscene amount of manpower, after a call with Fiorenza Savona it was clear that it wouldn't count as a masquerade breach compared to the party's interactions with the FBI.
But Strauss wasn't the only vampire trying to bully Patrick that night: a couple of mooks from clan Giovanni tried threatening him to evict the band of necromancers at the Vegas World casino for unauthorized adventures into the Deadlands. Patrick refused to be intimidated in his own Elysium, making it clear with threats of his own that Giovanni himself would have to visit if he had any issues with the necromancers in Vegas. The mooks agreed and quickly fled from the hotel.
A couple timezones away in Kansas CIty, the rest of the coterie had an interesting meeting with Carna to discuss appointing her as leader of a new chantry in Vegas supervised by the Trinity. She appeared skeptical of the offer at first, calling it a scheme hatched by the Tremere higher-ups to undermine her ambitions. Anthony and Norbert eased her paranoia and offered full transparency, especially when Anthony agreed to take off his clothes and show Carna the arcane tattoos he'd obtained from diablerizing Ulugh Begh. Carna agreed to relocate to Vegas, but she wanted to continue seeing Anthony with his clothes off to study the tattoos further.
The coterie reunited in Vegas by the end of the weekend, ready to deal with Victoria Ash and her ghoul when they arrived in the town the following night. Patrick took a few more meetings around the city, checking with the Ministry for any leads on the Funny Guy killer and getting the skull of the hunter David 'Four Eyes' Hill from Jeanette Voerman before she left for Los Angeles. He gave the skull to the necromancers to see if they could glean any more intel about the 'killers' of Therese Voerman, and afterwards he drove over to meet with his ghoul Paul Carter and Julia Rothman. Patrick asked to ghoul the FBI agent, offering power and near immortality in return for access to the Bureau's secrets, but Julia flat-out refused to be in such a parasitic relationship. She reiterated her belief that worse horrors threatened Earth than vampires, but the exploitative relationship most kindred had with humans was starting to give her pause.
