WHiV Session 11: Thanks, James Dean
General Summary
May 30 - 31, 1996
With few options left, the coterie made its final preparations for their battle to stop the Sabbat ritual to diablerize a methuseleh. Nadiya helped free Patrick from the FBI's holding cell, staying vague on details but explaining how the long arm of the Camarilla convinced the Bureau's leaders to wrap up the investigation. Las Vegas' prince Cesca Stirling had to take on some debts to achieve the detente, but agent Julia Rothman would be reassigned to search elsewhere for unusual incidents.
Patrick headed over to Anthony's haunted haven, plotting out their strategy the attack and agreeing it'd be worth it to try getting some werewolves on their side for the fight. Norbert stayed in Vegas to keep watch over their domain, and Nadiya provided the two vampires with plenty of firepower (and pigeons) for the long drive ahead. Along the way Patrick and Anthony picked up a spectral hitchhiker by the name of James Dean, and they stayed overnight at a Clown Motel before finishing up their journey the following night.
The meeting with the werewolves ended up being a wash, despite Anthony's best efforts and arguments (and James Dean's blessing) the pack leader decided that the methuseleh situation was best handled 'between parasites'. So the coterie headed up to mountains of Lake Tahoe alone, forced by necessity to pull out all the tricks in the book to confront several dozen Sabbat. Anthony transformed into a winged flesh monster and set a hillside ablaze with some incendiary rounds, Patrick firing shots at the Sabbat leadership while many of the shovelheads raced around in confusion. One of the leaders managed to escape, but not before Patrick incinerated two of them while Anthony decapitated the remaining Sabbat.
With the dust settled and the ritual interrupted, the two vampires made their way over to the mountain crevasse to come face-to-face with the methuseleh Ulugh Begh. It didn't take much convincing for Anthony to decide and undertake the diablerie on his own, succeeding to consume the Tremere's lifeforce and take his power. Dark veins and runic tattoos now stained Anthony's body, but he believed it was worth it for reviving the Dream.
