Nightfall

An automous city-planet run by a limp-wristed indepedent government reliant on corporate benefactors, Nightfall is a planet held captive. The city is characterized by the haves, the have-nots, and the vast difference between the two. Billions of credits pass through this system. The metropolis covered planet is considered a thrilling and exciting location to visit, as well as an interesting and vibrant place to live for those of means, and a hellscape to the city's disenfranchised. Its world famous slogan is "The Planet of Dreams", originally changed from "Planet on the Edge of Tomorrow."

Nightfall existed initially as a corporate-funded project by a certain Richard Night, who partnered with all manner of corporations from Harrison Armory to Illyrian Buisiness Machines. The project would be a libertarian capitalists wet dream. The government consists of an elected governor and a corporate-owned planetary council. District managers handle the day-to-day governance of most people's lives. Night would eventually get assassinated, supposedly by Bogoda shinobi, but Nightfall would live on. Nightfall's indepedence is less so a result of their fearsome planetary defense forces, and more so to do with the fact that the planet would prove incredibly difficult to actually manage. Corruption is so endemic at every level of the planetary government, that any kind of fix would likely require the entire society to be turned on its head. So instead, the status quo lives on.

During the silence Nightfall suffered several nuclear strikes by the Cult of Chronos. These sites would fester, turning into a wasteland quarantine zone, where lawless gangs rule.
