Aleuzlatu (Al-Ay-Youz-La-Too)
History
Aleuzlatu was the empire founded by the Draego after their war with the Primordial Gods on The Isle of Solace, known for its capability for swift destruction and creation of new settlements. The nation was comprised of a ruling class of Draego and Dragons, with Humans and Halflings being used as subservient slave races. Slaves were treated as chattel and bred for specific functions such as farming, construction, civic wizardry, and even livestock. This standard was set in The Outside World, where the empire migrated from, but much of that history was lost in The Tragedy of Mamlakat Hadaan, so few concrete facts are known about it. Aleuzlatu's landing on Solace is marked as the beginning of the modern era on the calendar, the Age of Destruction(A.D.), and is still used today to measure time passing there. This is because the death of the gods created many ecological disasters and magical anomalies that still ravage the landscape to this day. The Empress of the Draego, Ro Jedark D'Gemut, enacted many policies and built great cities meant to protect her people from the wrath of the gods, many of which are still employed by their successor, Banpour. This also represents the shift in power between the native races of Solace and the outsiders from the old world, and governance of the land under geopolitical organizations like The Council of Kings.Culture
Aleuzlatu was an empire of excess and splendor for the powerful, rewarding those who were able to take and hoard large amounts of wealth. The Draego and Dragons inherited many qualities from their mother, Tiamat, including greed and avarice. Slights were not taken lightly, and grudges were passed down for multiple generations. Everyday life was simple for much of their reign, but war was nearly constant for the 200 year span. A draego of the lowest class possible would often be an overseer or a merchant, managing either slaves or other merchandise for the empire. Many citizens had their own personal hoards that they may have hired one such merchant or overseer to curate with the aid of their slaves. The warriors of Aleuzlatu were prized and lauded, being the backbone of their rulership. While they had little in the way of tactics, their overwhelming power allowed them to spread over territory like a flood, destroying everything in their path and leaving the noble architects to rebuild in their Wake. The Nobles of Aleuzlatu were prolific scientists, mages, engineers, artists, and excelled in all fields of study. Much of their achievement has been lost in the years since the empire fell, but relics are still sometimes uncovered by adventurers and archaeologists. Dragons in Alezulatu underwent many changes in their status over the course of their rule. Initially, they were a gamebreaking military power, with Aleuzlatu commanding the might of hundreds of ancient dragons. With this power in these numbers, they were able to kill gods and defy their doomed fate in the old world. Furthermore, they were able to completely reshape the face of Solace, pushing other races completely to the fringes to claim territory unchallenged. In time though, their enemies adapted and began using Dark Magic and subterfuge to combat them, which the Dragons found themselves unable to counter. The erosion of their souls took a toll on them, with dragons starting to have more difficulty with their cycle of death and rebirth, sapping them of much of their power. The Empress took note of their failures and weakness, and directed the empire's strategies away from the reliance on dragons, which lowered the value of their caste significantly.Politics
Aleuzlatu was a monarchical empire, ruled by the Empress Ro Jedark D'Gemut with an iron fist. She was well loved by her people, but feared and hated by those outside of her empire as a vicious conqueror. The Empress is thought to be the most powerful Sorceress in recorded history, with the power from birth to make stars fall from the sky, and focus the power of the sun to demolish entire battlefields. The large break in the Roundridge Mountains is said to have been made by the Empress speaking a single command, "hatamuu al'ard" or "Shatter the earth". The respect and power attributed to her explain her unbroken rule, and the great success the Draego found in their campaigns. To this day, some Draego may refer to impressive feats of power as Jedarkian.Organizations of Note
