Ganymede
Ganymede is the third Galilean moon of Jupiter and the largest natural planetaary satellite in the solar system. It is also the first Jovian body to be colonized by humanity in 2656, and first to be federated into the newly established Jovian Moon Federation (JMF) in 2756. Ganymede is the most populace moon in the JMF and a key agricultural asset. Sometimes refered to as the "Breadbasket of the Federation", Ganymede produces most of the food consumed by in the JMF, and regularly produces enough to allow foodstuffs to be exported to other places in the outer system. As well as its own local government the moon also contains the JMF capital city of Jovian D.G. that opperates independantly from the Ganymeden government and not subject to it's jurisdiction.
Structure
Federal
Ganymede is a member moon of the Jovian Moon Federation. A governmental body that oversees and administrates the inhabited and strategic moons of Jupiter's orbital system.
Local
Ganymede, like all JMF moons has its own local government that oversees the moon and makes laws subject to the population as long as those laws are within the scope of federal laws put in place by the Jovian Moon Federation.It consists of an Executive Office headed by an elected Governor, and a State Council presided over by a Vice-Governor. The jurisdiction of these governments is the inhabited and developed areas of the moon as well as the low-orbit space above the surface. The Ganymeden State Council consists of 32 representatives voted in by the local district populations. How many representatives per district is determined by population and size. Term limits are given to representative lasting no more than 10 standard years.
District Cities
Cities on Ganymede are modeled after old Martian district cities that are built both on the surface and into the bedrock beneath. Each city area is a collection of partially buiried domes that are connected under the icy crust by labrinths of connnected habitats and chambers that descend deeper and deeper under the surface. For every one person in a dome, theres ample room for more than 800 underground.

History
Like with Ceres, through resources, manpower, or other means, Venus, Earth, Luna, and Mars put equivalent effort in to the creation of Galileo's Landing in 2656, first of hundreds of settlments and habitats to orbit the massive planet Jupiter. Ganymede was humanities first step into inhabiting the moon systems of gas giants; living and working around the largest planets in Sol System, and in some cases in the outer layers of clouds themselves. With the unique attribute of having its own magnetic sphere to protect from the Sun and Jupiter's radiation, Ganymede itself became the heart of medicine and agriculture for the Jovian system and all outer planet settlements for centuries. Following the pattern of Ceres further, Ganymede and the other Jovian colonies were offered sovereignty after 100 years of growth as powerful human settlements. In 2756, after control was given to the Jovian people, it was decided to create a single city-sized governing facility called the Jovian District of Governance. for the new Jovian Moon Federation government as well as the Jovian military, the city was built on Ganymede but does not count amoung the moon's cities and the Ganymeden governor has no jurisdiction over the city or its inhabitants.
