Orcen Paraglider Military Formation in Skeigham | World Anvil

Orcen Paraglider

Anar could not believe his eyes. In all his years in the Keandran military, he never saw Orcs behave this way. But the corporal confirmed his fears, turning to him, eyes wide in panic.
"It is over, General Keen. They have the higher ground!"

The Orcen Paragliders are a military unit used by the Orcs of the Blue mountains east of Keandra. As a type of paramilitary unit they use rituals, alchemy and their elevated positions in the mountains to fly with simple paragliders over the enemy in the field, quickly striking form above and returning to their camps. The usage of these units slowed down the Keandran efforts to drive the Orcs out of their home territory.

The possibilities of Rituals

While the Orcs in the Blue Mountains were using paragliders before, their range and speed had always been below average, due to the general size and weight of a trained Orc. They were initially used for hunting by Orcs of a leaner figure and already well improved in maneuverability. Skilled Orcs were able to use Updrafts, to return to their point of origin.

With the works of the famous Meator Gurk the Leon, several rituals were discovered, that allowed Orcen Shamans to bless meat in a way it makes the consumer lighter and stronger, even be able to see in the dark. Eventually this knowledge made its way through the desert of Thiem into the Blue Mountains.

As the Orcs were already desperate for ways to defend against an unprovoked Keandran invasion, they were thinking of ways to improve their already successful hit and run tactics. They came up with the idea of using the paraglider to scout the area for targets - which soon evolved into an attack strategy itself.
