Laenora of Larrana

Laenora stood on the palisades of her home. The sky was still dark and not a single ray of the sun was yet visible. But from over the valley in the darkness, she could hear the shadows marching. A quick look around to the few men and women left did not help to encourage her, and she was responsible for the lives and deaths of these people.

She missed her best freind. If only Lirini were here, with her smile and her unwavering faith that everything would be okay. But she was ascended to who knows what and would not be bothered with this day. Laenora knew exactly what she would have told her: This was a day were mortals had to fight. This was the day, when she would become a hero.

Laenora of Larrana was a hero of the Shadow Wars in the times long before the Ruling of Coexistence, even before the usurper Zecod fell and Sabes rose into godhood. She was a known follower of Lirini and some say she was her most trusted advisor and closest friend. It was her effort during the war against mysterious shadow foes, that allowed a significant turn of events.

Early years

It is not known, when Laenora was born or how she grew up. It is written, however, that she had a natural curiosity about the world and that led her to seek out Lirini. Between those two formed a bond and they traveled together for many years. It was a time of tumult because the shadow wars had already begun. Lirini and Laenora together searched and found a way for Lirini to join her fellow deities in ascension and to stop the assaults of the Shadow Foes.

During those travels it happened, that Laenora was mortally wounded. Even the many skills of Lirini seemed to not be able to heal her. Only after she shed a tear full of sorrow and love for her friend the wounds got sealed. When Lirini later ascended, she created out of this a token of their friendship, the Tear of Lirini.

The Battle of Larrana

After Lirini's Ascension, Laenora reluctantly led the warriors of the region Rhomedan against the dark forces. During the Shadowstorm of Larrana she and fifteen men and women were able to delay the march of one of their armies for long enough for support to come to their aid. During this battle it is said, Laenora faced the commander of the army herself and struck him down.

Legacy

She eventually became the first empress of Rhomedan and would go on to establish a remarkable rule. The token she got from Lirini would become the insignia of her house and the proof of her right to rule the Empire in the name of Lirini herself. SHe tooke up residence in the village she defended against the shadows: Larrana, the new capital of Rhomedan.

When Leanora was already an old woman, her friend Lirini visited her one last time. Together they disappeared into the light and it is told, that Lirini raised her dear friend into the heavens to stay with her forever.
