Summer Camp 2021 Pledge in Shadowfire | World Anvil

Summer Camp 2021 Pledge

Why take part?

I started worldbuilding in earnest during World Ember, which was an amazing experience. It helped me flesh out the world I'm working on in far more detail than otherwise. However - i think the intensity of the month really made me drop the ball as soon as the event had finished.   I'd like ot be more relaxed with my first Summer Camp. To not get worried or obsessed about word counts, likes and badges or wotnot. In many ways, long word counts are less useful for the gaming experience anyway. If my prose reads like bullet lists, so be it. I'll have fun with it! :-)

My Worldbuilding Summer Camp 2021 Pledge:

Aim for writing at least a little for every prompt - lets say 300 words. And then the ones that i get inspired by, go for more. I won't worry if life gets in the way, or I don't get the likes or the badges. Success is interesting ideas being generated, and a fun time at the game table.

Which project are your worldbuilding efforts tied to?

I've been using my world to guide a burgeoning D&D game i'm also learning to be DM with. I've found so far that the big conceptual worldbuilding stuff I'd focussed on - like cosmic creation and deep history - is really not as useful as the nitty-gritty.   I'll use the prompts to build out the day-to-day elements of the world that my players may interact with over the course of their adventures in Shadowfire. This means less cosmic scale ideas, and more attention to local areas, recent events, and the local people and beings that my players will bump into.   Stretch goal will be to plot out potential long-term campaign arcs for the game we're playing.

Prompt 3

Prompt 4

What World Are You Working On?

Shadowfire, (Ohforf) of course. Its the only one I got! But, I gotta remember to keep touching in on my World Meta... to keep me on target.

Which Areas Of The World Are You Working On?

I'll continue with the Uferbrech area of Shadowfire, with my first port of call being Camp Thrifty and the ruins beneath the ocean. This will likely spread to touch on the island of Timesdawn and potentially even The Tangled Fathoms , the Stoneforged Assembly and the southern parts of The Protectorates.   To be honest, I'll go where the muse and the prompts take me. But with an eye to where my Goblin Friends want to take their own story.

How much are you aiming to complete?

I'm going to aim for at least a stub for all 31, and expand those where the inspiration strikes.

When Will You Write?

Unlike most Anvilites, I'm southern hemisphere and shivering through winter solstice. I leave and return home in the dark... so, I'll try to hang onto the virtual summer vibes and will probably be writing in the evenings. The mornings are way too cold and the doona hard to let go of.

Who Is Your Support Network?

My partner is very encouraging. And, my two chihuaha-crosses Marley and Willow. They let me know when I'm being incorrect. They are the inspiration for the Fey Chi for those interested.
